Marco Moreira is the head chef and owner of 15 East @ Tocqueville with inventive contemporary cuisine utilizing French-American and Japanese styles. He combined two Michelin-recognized restaurants into one beautiful place. Tocqueville, with decades of history, and 15 East, a Japanese restaurant housed together with a bold interior design that resembles Parisian townhouses. What an amazing place to bring your significant other for a romantic dinner. In ancient China, only the emperor gets to enjoy forbidden black rice hence the name forbidden. Tonight, we have the opportunity to eat like a king! Everything is so delicate and delicious that words simply cannot describe properly. They even iron every tablecloth so ensure perfection.

Food was ok, no surprise. But the birthday plate was very cute and I appreciate it. The service is very good and thoughtful too, although between each course the wait time is too long. Their sushi cook went to Japan so unfortunately we couldn’t try the sushi.

What a beautiful and elegant restaurant. The bar area is inviting and the dining room is lovely and quiet. The service is excellent and the food is a culinary lovers delight. I tasted a little bit of everything. The caviar with eggs was great, loved the Wild Bluefin Tuna sashimi flight followed by oysters. Shared the sea bass, lobster duo and steak and of course dessert. Cocktails are enjoyable and the wine selection is great. I will definitely be back again.

Delicious food with great wine pairing in a calm and comfortable atmosphere and professional staff. Keep coming back to this place over several years already and they always meet all expectations. There’s also a private area on the second floor, overlooking the main dining hall, that’s great for hosting private parties.

My favorite restaurant in New York City. It is hidden, and not advertised as much as a typical Michelin restaurant. (It is not a Michelin but it reminds me of one). For this reason, you won’t find many tourists here. I would say this restaurant is for foodies. The service and quality are similar to that of a Michelin restaurant, but the prices are better and portions are slightly bigger. I always feel full and satisfied after dining here. Been coming here for 8+ years and it’s consistently wonderful. The presentation of food here is great as well. Highly recommended!

Beautiful ambiance. Friendly staff. Amazing food. Some of the food was a tad mediocre for the price, but it was still an excellent experience. If you do the 5 course meal, definitely get the grits!

An exceptional, amazing and world class experience at 15 EAST @ Tocqueville. The chef’s tasting menu with 5 courses was delicious, innovative and refined to perfection. Even the small details are taken care of, the presentation is top notch and the staff of very attentive and courteous, making sure that guests have a great experience. I really loved all five dishes (the octopus, black sea bass, risotto, duck a l’orange and the Costa Rican gold poached pineapple). I’d recommend this lovely restaurant for any occasion, in particular for dates, birthdays, or anniversaries. The experience is totally worth it. They offer different tasting menus, but the guests also have a choice of doing la Carte menu, which is awesome!

I have been going to this restaurant for a very long time and I have had a few events in their private room upstairs. I just went after the reopening and I am sad to inform that it was a huge disappointment. We had the seven course tasting menu. I spent just under 1k on a dinner for two and the food was substandard. The black sea bass was tough and the lobster course was chewy. The service was average, which is fine I guess, but at the price point of this restaurant, the service is expected to be exceptional. For about one additional hundred dollars I could’ve had a dinner at Per Sé, which has a 3 Michelin star rating; Tocqueville doesn’t even have one Michelin star. In short: the food is not what it used to be and the dinning experience is way overpriced. We had a disappointing dinner at Tocqueville.
