We ate at this restaurant that’s located inside the beautiful Beauport Hotel in Gloucester. Beautiful dining room with inside and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating overlooks the ocean. The inside dining room is really beautiful with ample seating. The drinks menu has a pretty extensive wine and spirits selection. Great cocktails. The appetizers were delicious especially the crab cake and the tuna tartare and thr crab poutine. The service was really great and efficient.

We recently dined here this past weekend based on the recommendation of a relative that lives in Magnolia. They have been coming here for years so we all went here for dinner so we could try it. I also saw the rave review from The City Lists so I was really excited to try it. The hotel itself is beautiful! The restaurant and outdoor deck has stunning views. The service on this particular night was not good. We were seated and our waiter promptly came over with water & asked if we need a few minutes to review the drink menu to which we said yes. He returned after 15-20 minutes and took our order. Another 20 minutes later we finally received our drinks. It was Saturday night so perhaps the bar was busy. Our waiter came back to see if we had any questions & if we wanted to put in an order for an appetizer. We asked what oysters they had for the day & he did not know (yikes, it’s an oyster bar!). He came back 10 minutes later and let us know which four varieties they had that evening. We put in our order right then as the service thus far was very slow. We also put in another drink order. 10 minutes later our waiter returned to our table & asked my husband to confirm his drink again. Another 15 minutes until our drinks arrived (dropped off by another employee). Shortly after our entrees arrived. Welp, my food came out burnt. I mean black. I’ve seen pictures of this particular dish & mine looked nothing like it. Everyone else’s dish was great. We also never received bread which I didn’t realize until my husband & I discussed our experience on the ride home. Super disappointed with the experience we had. I’m assuming it was isolated due to the waiter but unfortunately that can make or break your experience somewhere.

The fish croquettes were delicious and the fish fry also really good. Where I come from, fish is always fried crisp. The fish at 1606 was juicy and cooked properly. And I liked the potatoes that came with them. It was a classy experience that I very much enjoyed!

Anniversary dinner for the win. We were seated in front of the windows inside; the view was perfect and romantic. Tables were not SUPER close together so you can enjoy your personal space. Got the regular seafood tower to start. Everything was perfect and fresh; just enough for 2 people. Cocktails were that perfect mix of stiff, but delicious. Disappointed in myself I don’t have pictures of the entrees, but FINALLY a place that didn’t ask me how I wanted the tuna steak cooked. Sesame crusted tuna was seared to perfection on the outside and deliciously raw on the inside WITHOUT having to ask. A dish I will remember till the next celebration. My husband’s rave – “Best scallops I’ve ever had”. And I will agree. Finished our tab and were so struck by the sunset we grabbed another drink at the bar with leather couches. Waited for someone to leave the rocking chairs along the wire fencing on the deck where we finished off the night. Views and vibes were perfect for enjoying an entire romantic evening in one spot. Will be back and highly recommend for a special evening.
