Love! so happy to have a 5 star in Beaumont to report on This place is the perfect BBQ spot, no pretentious interior just great food! and most importantly for this diner has BEEF RIBS!!! thank you 1701!! the best coleslaw and perfect for the richness of the ribs. Potato salad was great and tasted homemade, and the sauce on the tables is takeaway worthy (for sale on site). a little pricey but so worth it. i feel lucky to have been introduced to 1701.

This is definitely the top 5 BBQ places in Texas! Per Texas Monthly! I don’t know the other 4 but this has to be #1

Incredible brisket. Great sausage, ribs, turkey, heck any of their meat is great. Their sides are also very good. The street corn and cole slaw are outstanding. It has a bit of a wait at 11:00, but not near as bad as it used to be. The prices are high, but on par with the big places in central texas. This is easily a top 50 BBQ joint in Texas. Nothing comes close at least until Houston. This is a must try place. Love it!

There was a little bit of a wait to order, over all the food was good, I got what felt like more fat than meat to my brisket, but the brisket was tender. Also got the beef sausage, good Flavor, was a little dry but the bbq sauce helped with that. Collard greens tasted very fresh, Mac and cheese was awesome. Also sampled some pork ribs, they were definitely a win

Stopped on our way to New Orleans. Brisket was incredible!! Honestly best I’ve ever had in my 34 years; and I literally travel to test out and review foodie places for a living. 10/10 for me and my party of 4. All with different pallets and all highly judgemental people haha. Staff were courteous and friendly. Nobody here looked like they hated their job and you for being there. Something I feel I find too often, unfortunately. BBQ so good the whole vibe of the place is just….*chef’s kiss* Oh and if you’re kind of a clean freak but messy eater like me, the whole place is clean and the bathroom is surprisingly spotless for a bbq joint.

Our first time having central Texas BBQ. Absolutely delicious. We had pork and beef ribs, brisket, turkey and jalapeno sausage. Wow. Mac and cheese and beans were Great! Followed by carmel bread pudding. Yum! The staff and owner were exceptional friendly and kind. We drove 90 miles out of our way just to eat there. Worth every mile. Thank you for a special experience.

1701 BBQ was an all around great experience! Myself and a couple friends are doing the TX Monthly top 50 BBQ passport challenge. Of 40 ‘cue stops so far, I am pleased to put 1701 BBQ in the top 5. The atmosphere was great, and we loved the musician playing traditional country music inside. The interior decor was rustic, clean, and cleverly decorated; exactly what I’ve come to appreciate in BBQ joints. The staff, especially pit master Travis, were extremely courteous to us. Travis even took the time to talk to us at our table for awhile, asking us about our various BBQ adventures with the TX Monthly Top 50 contest. The ‘cue was top notch, the brisket had a perfectly peppery bark and the tender well seasoned ribs fell right off the bone. A fairly new addition was the homemade strawberry cake, which we hope they keep around! All in all, it was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend going out of your way to try!!

Best pulled pork I’ve ever eaten. The staff was so friendly. Clean restaurant. You need to get there early because once they run out it’s out so the sides we wanted weren’t available. Not my favorite potato salad, too many onions. I will definitely return earlier next time.

Easily the best bbq in the area, great atmosphere and friendly staff. I was a little disappointed the brisket was not as moist as I had hoped, yet it still had great flavor and very tender. The pulled pork was some of the best I’ve had along with the beef link which was very well seasoned. I tried a friends pork rib and found them to be pretty above average, the meat pulled off the bone as it should and not overly falling off the bone with good flavor. Hopefully in the future they can add some more sides. All in all was a great experience and hope they thrive as we’ve been needing a legit bbq place.
