I’m always on the lookout for good ethnic cuisine, so to my amazement, I see an African restaurant opening near Hiram. Keeping my expectations within reason, I have to say food was good overall. So far, my favorite dish is the Egusi Stew w/ Fufu…. Yummy! They also have some American style entrees. Staffers were friendly and patient. So if you have questions on menu items, ask away. Plenty of indoor seating available for any party size. An outdoor area is available too. Atmosphere is a chill energetic vibe while music from current afrobeat artists play in the background. Portion sizes are plentiful.

I want to give 3.5 stars but that’s not an option. On one hand – the food is pretty good. We ordered: Oxtail pepper soup (pictured), Suya, Jollof rice with goat meat, Meat pie. Total about $70 bucks.

Was very excited about this place I ordered take out, but the atmosphere inside is wonderful. I ordered jollof rice and goat asked for fried but they gave me stewed 2 pieces of meat ($19) two orders of suya ($38). The servers at the bar were friendly. The suya to me didn’t have the same seasoning I’ve had everywhere else it was good just not what I was looking for. I just expected more quantity for $68 dollars. Had to order from my regular spot when I got home to add to it for the family. I always give a place two chances so maybe next time I’ll dine in and see if there is a difference.

1738 Restaurant Bar & Grill is a wonderful and great place to dine. The food is fantastic. I loved the Jolla rice and okra soup. The atmosphere is great. Service was very good. Paula, the cook is just fantastic. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves good food.I fell in love with the place and will definitely go back again and again.

I ordered salmon that ended up being overcooked and an appetizer that was oily. To my surprise I brought it to the owners attention and she didn’t offer to make it right by giving me a meal redo in the future. I always look for authentic ethnic cuisine and wanted to give this place a try. I’ll will try to give it another chance because the service was excellent.

On Friday May 26 my daughter and I walked into this heavenly place with such a great vibe. The music, the atmosphere, was amazing. The service was top notch. Our server has great customer service along with knowledge and understanding of what to offer the customer. Now for the food, it was outstanding. We ordered the egusi w/mackerel fish. The fish was so fresh and the egusi was probably the best I’ve tasted in Georgia. Will I be back? Oh of course I will! So glad they’ve come to the Powder Springs/Hiram area. Delicious
