I haven’t lived in Pasadena for almost six years, but when I did, 1978 was always my go-to place for pizza and subs. The food used to be fantastic but now, it’s just like any other pizza and sub place in Pasadena.

We went for pizza at 1978 after an afternoon/evening at the beach and it was wonderful! Delicious pizza, amazing garlic knots…staff was friendly and fun. We ate in, but it’s mostly a take out restaurant… we felt very comfortable. Great find!

If you are looking for affordable ($9 pies on Monday and Tuesday), decent pizza for lunch or for a big together then go here. If you are looking for fantastic pizza to impress your friends, go to Mama Romas. Pizza was burned on bottom and every item was bland and there was no robust flavor to sauce or crust. Garlic rolls were ok…still lacking a softness and flavor. Very nice staff but due to reviews I was disappointed.

The BEST pizza in the area. Originally from NJ and we’re always searching for the local place with good pizza and in many cities have found nothing. This is absolutely fantastic pizza. A genuinely delicious NY / NJ pizza pie. Great prices. Garlic knots are awesome. And their baked ziti is top notch. Makes you drool and want more. Absolutely incredible

We ordered a large veggie pizza. It looked wonderful and was packed with beautiful fresh veggies. By the time tax, fees & tip were added in, our $18 pizza had become a $30 pizza. I think if I am getting a $30 pizza, it should not arrive lukewarm. We had to heat up our pizza. Regardless it was still very good. We will def give 1978 a 2nd try and hope that our pizza arrives properly hot.

This is my 3rd visit since they opened. All I can say the water was cold. Guy on the phone staring at it. Customers standing an d waiting. Takes my order goes back to phone. I ordered a slice of pepperoni. None were left so he puts it in the oven. 10 minutes later pulls. Black on bottom. Never. Again
