If you are looking for an inexpensive local Mexican food restaurant then 5 De Mayo is worth checking out. Personally I think it is one of the better Mexican restaurants in “Old Magnolia”. Their prices are very reasonable and you get a decent amount of food for the price. Food is pretty tasty, not great but good. Staff is very nice, restaurant is nice and clean. Food was served nice and hot (which is one of my biggest criteria). I had ground beef and cheese enchiladas and found them to be very tasty. My wife had seafood enchiladas and said they were excellent. I also like that they serve you your drink in a nice large cup (which minimizes the amount of times you have to ask for a refill).

I have ordered from them multiple times. I do not care for the beans, so I get double rice. Well, they do not give you that. I called today to ask what happened, and all she would say was sorry. This is not the first time this has happened, but they do not seem to care to make it right. We won’t be going back if you go and get it to go make sure you have everything before you leave.

I remember eating at this place years ago. When older daughters ran this place it was great. Customer service is horrible presently. The food quality have suffered and the service is horrible. My husband and I went for breakfast after abandoning this place for years. The a bbq was stringy, dry, and had no taste. My husband could not get his coffee cup filled and had to get up to get it himself. It I could have given a 0 review I would have!

This restaurant was an excellent find! Just moved to the area and was looking for somewhere to eat after a long day at the park and this came up as a recommendation on my Google Maps app. The food here is excellent and they actually have freshly made horchata! Service was friendly and fairly quick given how many customers were there for a Sunday afternoon. I don’t eat out too often, but this will be my new go-to restaurant when I do!

We have been coming here for years! Their great service and authentic Mexican food is what keeps us coming back. Their Pazole is so good! I love their drive through options when we need a quick weeknight dinner. They are family owned have excellent customer service. Their breakfast is really good, too. Good price for great food.

Got take out from this “restaurant”. I got the enchiladas which were not at all what I thought. The tortillas in the enchiladas were not heated, basically straight out of the package then they threw an American single cheese slice on top (you could see the square outline so I’m assuming that’s what it was) and threw it in the microwave. The charro beans had hot dogs in them. We didn’t get any chips or salsa but I don’t know if they provide those with take out orders. Also not sure how our order came out to $27.87 when my plate was $9.95 and my husband’s was $10.95, that seems like a lot of tax to me but who knows. Tried looking at the receipt but it didn’t say anything but $27.87, no individual prices for the items ordered.
