Look I haven’t even ate the food yet but when I called to see if they were open while we were in town, I Google soul food and this popped up! I called and the owner was very polite and inviting! Walked in and it Smells SO GOOD Y’ALL!! This will now be our stop when we are in Topeka!! He is a one man show but I bet it’s worth the wait. Also call ins are welcomed! Support this small Black owned business!!! UPDATE! ATE FOOD IS AMAZING!!!

First time here. The food is wonderful. I had the fried catfish, red beans and along with gumbo! My wife had the ox tail and fried green tomatoes. The gooey cake was incredible. Friendly staff made us feel at home. We will definitely be back. If you are looking for something a little different, this is a must try!

Been reading great reviews and we were not disappointed. The guy working was very friendly and my 7yo actually ate all of her food with no complaints & requested to go back! We both ordered fried catfish with baked mac n cheese & I had wedge fries as well – all of it was great! It’s a tiny little restaurant, very simple but it works!

Every time I go to 785 Kitchen, I am always satisfied with the freshness and speed that I get my food. Everything is made with love and heart and that’s reflected in the feeling of the staff. I had two kid’s meals because I couldn’t decide which entrees and sides to get, and it was, as always, more than enough. If you haven’t tried 785 Kitchen, you should.You have to try it! I had the catfish and red beans and rice and wings with cornbread and greens. Everything was great. I love their catfish. The batter is crispy and the ends are obscenely crunchy. Why aren’t you there yet? I am a repeat customer. Keep it up, 785 Kitchen! 5 stars!

There’s not too many good options for this type of food in Kansas. After trying 7.8.5 out for the first time today (catfish, gumbo, okra)…it definitely ranks at the top of my list. The only complaint I have is that it’s within a 10 minute drive from my house so I guess the idea of getting a six pack this summer might have to wait until next year…or the year after.
