Vegetarian Food: The restaurant is vegan so I had nothing to worry about and so had many choices. However the flavors were not that great except for a couple of things which were lovely. The roti was very oily and lemonade was super bland. The lentils were good and so was the Onion Tamarind Sambal. The service is good. I wish there was a smaller option for the platter as $24 for a plate was a bit much. I had heard it was ok but wanted to try it for myself.

While there are tons of pretentious wannabe vegan restaurant with no flavor, it is hard to find the good ones. This place was simply the best. We had the jackfruit cutlets and the pol roti platter and both were amazing. Pol Sambol, seeni sambal and dal were noteworthy.

I’ve never had Sri Lankan food before, but this was amazing! And vegan to boot. Ordered for delivery and could tell it was made super fresh, very hot (temp), actually spicy, and a good serving size. Ordered a dessert too but haven’t tried it yet. It is a little bit pricey, but I can easily get 2 meals out of one so take that into consideration.

We came here as a group of 9. Looking at how small the indoor area is, we weren’t sure we would get space. But they helped us join a couple tables together. You order at the counter and they serve you the food. The menu can be a little intimidating even though I’m from India, a neighborhood country of Sri Lanka and familiar with their food. Being in a big group helped because we ordered a bunch of food for the table. We all really enjoyed the food. The sampler of appetizers had a really good mix of chicken, fish and vegetarian items. It was all gobbled up in a jiffy and we had to order more. The papadums were great too. We tried a couple different rotis and liked all of them. Loved their dal and kept ordering more. The fried rice was the only thing that we couldn’t finish. It was good, just not as good as everything else. I’d read that the food can be spicy. But I didn’t think so. Some items yes, but not everything. We ordered mild spice though.

Mirisata offers a very unique cuisine… but VEGAN! I was so excited when this place opened up. Sri Lankan food is not something you come across often. It is extremely flavorful and I love that is it a worker-owned cooperative. They offer a plethora of gluten free options as well. Whenever someone comes into town and asks me for suggestions- this is the first place to come in mind. Portland is so lucky to have this gem!
