Venturing into the heart of Washington DC, I stumbled upon RASA – a hidden culinary gem that has left me awe-struck and utterly satisfied. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the inviting ambiance, tasteful decorations, and comfortable seating arrangements.

I went with two of my friends and we found that the food was alright, but even though it was not busy, we felt like we were rushed through the process. Even at times when we had the opportunity to choose more than one option, after one choice we were moved down the assembly line. My friend didn’t even get a chance to pick toppings before the employee put the lid on her container. We also ordered Naan and it was so dry we couldn’t eat it.

Rasa is a fast casual Indian restaurant similar to the Chipotle model. You can choose from a preset bowl or choose to build your own bowl (with selections for grains, meats, vegetables, sauces and toppings). Flavor/wise the spice level is very mild. The lamb kebabs were ok but the turmeric rice was a bit wet.

This place reminds me of one of those quirky restaurants where the staff is unnecessarily rude and the food is sub-mediocre. Haha, what a riot! I ordered the wet rice bowl with sloppy-slop. Since I wasn’t that specific kind of hungover where nothing tastes good but you still need to eat, I was a little disappointed. I recommend the napkins, fairly absorbent and easy to access.

The cuisine says Indian and delivers Indian in a form that is more fusion. This concept is being loved and shared. The Indian food served in a Mediterranean style has brought out a new perspective. Loved the rice and vegetables bowl with tomato and garlic gravy, mint, and tamarind chutneys topped with jalapeño chips.

I ordered the Tikka Chance On Me which was prepared in about 5 minutes and came out to $11.83 after tax. The server was very professional and courteous. The bowl itself was delicious and I recommend visiting this restaurant for Indian style fast food.

Food tasted good but…It says $2 extra on the board for adding a spicy beef on your regular bowl. But then came out as $5 when paying. Doesn’t make sense, does it? Why wouldn’t they just post $5 so that everyone knows what they’ll pay.

I love Indian food so much! That’s why I end up in this place and it was perfect because they do takeout.
