Spoleto has been preparing fine Italian cuisine since 1986 in the heart of downtown Northampton. We are known for the authenticity in preparing our classic dishes, as well as our ever-rotating daily specials. Just as you’d expect out of New England, we pride ourselves on using each season in The Pioneer Valley to bring fresh offerings to our kitchen and even our bar! I had high expectation of this place, having walked by it a million times and always caught pleasant smells wafting out from it, but my experience can be better classified as mediocre rather than pleasant. The decor and vibe is a bit lacking. You have all of the staples here like exposed brick and open kitchen layout, but it felt underwhelming rather than cozy or hip. The service left a lot to be desired. Despite being seated right next to the kitchen we rarely saw our server and it seemed to be a real inconvenience to them any time they did turn up. The food was good, not great, but good and tasty. I was a bit disappointed to see that the menu on their website is out of date and the dish that I had hoped to order had been dropped from the menu altogether. Overall this restaurant is fine and a serviceable option for a dinner out, but I would highly recommend checking out some of the other great options down town.

Travellers, we made reservations here for a family celebration and it was a huge mistake. No one came to seat us when we went and asked for help the Maitre d pointed us to a table and we sat down and never saw a server again. They came to a close by table after 20 minutes but the server ignored us. She never came back with the other tables items either. The restaurant was almost completely empty. No customers. They told other folks there was a 45 minute wait for a table in an empty restaurant. When we asked they said they were short handed and the waitress walked off and never came back. This was embarrassing and uncomfortable and almost ruined our evening. After 40 minutes we went to another restaurant, fittzwillys, where we got served immediately in a friendly way and it was great. We used to come to spoletos all the time but this was the last time. The service was downright rude from the entire staff. It was like they didn’t want our business. So our advice to you is go somewhere else because even the reservation didn’t get us service.

Sat outside tonight on a beautiful summer evening and totally enjoyed our dinner. Thursday’s special offering was paella and it was delicious. Generous portion, lots of seafood and perfectly spiced. Our server Amy was delightful and attentive. The owner, who is charming, checked on us several times. We’ve eaten at this restaurant a few times since we moved to the area and the food is always tasty and the service outstanding.

This is the best restaurant I have been to since moving here a month ago. The food was wonderful and there was so much of it my leftovers will be my dinner again tonight. It is dog friendly, which is always a bonus. Both the hostess and the server asked us if we wanted water for the dog. There are awesome private fireplace tables in addition to tables and picnic tables, your choice of seating. Free parking (very hard to find in Northampton). But our server, Tori really topped it off, she was the best! We told her were new to the area and before we left she came back to the table with a list of places to go. Would highly recommend Spoleto with or without Tori. But if you get her as your server, it will definitely be a bonus!

We went to Spoleto to enjoy a pleasant summer evening with some outdoor dining. It delivered this complete with cool-looking umbrellas to block the rays from the evening sun, which would otherwise inconveniently shine into half the patron’s faces at sunset. The entire dining area has an open-gate fence, so leashed pets can be reasonably comfortable from passerby on the sidewalk.

I was very disappointed in the food. Went in expecting fine Italian cuisine, but the food was… Far from Fine. The pecan crusted salmon I ordered was mushy and completely overwhelmed by the sweetness of the orange sauce. The risotto that came with it did not complement the flavors at all. It was overwhelmingly sweet, just like the rest of the dish.Overall the flavors were lacking and unbalanced, as well as completely unsalted. My friends were equally disappointed in their dishes, we all agreed the food was overpriced for what it was.

Restaurant was clean and nice everything was great until my dinner came . I pry the chicken Parmesan dinner and it was under cooked and rubbery took waiter ten minutes to get manager or whoever to come over then they offered nothing which by that time my girlfriend was already done eating so at that point I just wanted nothing else . After that waiter never once came back to ask if we needed anything or another drink and we sat there a half hour just waiting for our check . Portions were small for the price and they weren’t even that busy for the pot service .

We recently had our son’s rehearsal dinner at Spoleto. The atmosphere and setting was the best, we had the outdoor bar to ourselves and it was a great evening to mingle and greet the wedding party, family, and guests. Gina was especially accommodating with our arrangements, easy to work with, and very professional. The staff, drinks and food were great and we all had a lovely time!
