This is the best sandwich I’ve ever had. The generous portion of brisket is delicious and tender, the bacon and onion straws are crispy enough to bite straight through, and the pepperjack ties it all together. The sauces are smoky, a little sweet, and have a mild heat that builds up slowly. They pair well with the brisket without overpowering it. The fries were cooked very well but could’ve used a little more salt.

I got a sampler, and it came with turkey, pulled pork, burnt ends, brisket, and sausage (the sausage was very good). All the meat was cooked well but lacked seasoning, and the BBQ sauce was mediocre at best. The fries that came with the meal needed salt. The meal also comes with butter toasted bread that was great. I wanted to try some Mac and cheese. However, they were out. They had some jalapeño Mac and cheese bites, and they were awesome! The baked beans were okay. The potatoes salad was okay. A little salt in the water when boiling the potatoes would have mage l made it better. The portion size was pretty good. The staff were very friendly.

This is my second time here, still getting the same quality and flavor as the first time from 1 year ago. Great customer service and very clean establishment. I’m definitely coming back!

Smells good, tastes good, atmosphere is good. No nonsense BBQ. Only thing I didn’t care for was the coleslaw. Ribs are perfect, same with the burnt ends, pulled pork sandwich is the perfect level of moister. Not soggy not dry. Yum!

On a whirlwind 2 day adventure, in attempts to visit NE, IA, MO, and KS all in one trip, I ventured down from Gretna to Kansas City. Now, I was only in the Missouri side of town, so I had to do something in KS to make it count. Enter: Smoketown BBQ. If Smoketown BBQ is the only thing I ever do in the state of Kansas, I will die a happy lady. There was not one single part of the meal or experience that was a miss for me, or my friend who described her burnt ends sandwich and mac and gouda bites as “life-changing.” After seeing that there were only, IMO, basic beers, I selected a Boulevard Pale Ale in hopes of stumbling on a local gem, despite not typically drinking pale ales. It was local, and it was a gem. Next up, burnt ends tacos. I’m normally a fan of street tacos, but these took it up a notch by being just a bit bigger and therefore, the perfect size. I also am not usually a huge slaw fan, but the flavors all melding together had me wondering if they invented it. From the seasonings to the sauce, I was in heaven, not to mention the burnt ends themselves! I had to try a local sounding side, so I opted for the cheesy corn. I’m sorry, what?! As both a corn lover and a cheese lover, I can’t believe I hadn’t heard if this til now. Add a little BBQ and I found myself wondering what else I could add sauce to. One thing that didn’t require it, was the gouda bites. As a Midwesterner, I can’t tell you how pleased I was at being offered ranch, without having to ask for it. The server must have known it wasn’t necessary, but just having it offered was something dreams are made of as a ranch lover like myself. However, as I made my way through first bites of ranch dipped gouda, I surprised even myself when I exclaimed that the ranch would not be necessary. The Mac cooked to perfection, the gouda filling my mouth and tasebuds with fresh joy, the perfectly crisp fried outer layer…. *chef’s kiss.*

Great flavor. I had the burnt end plate with baked beans and slaw. Outstanding. However, it seems a little pricey for lunch. $22 without a tip.

Great KC BBQ and such amazing service! Sauces were excellent and the pickles were such an unexpected surprise. We got the dominator with cheesy corn and it was so good!!

It wasn’t bad, but it just didn’t have that kick that BBQ should have. The staff were amazing and the food was good just not WOW good. The brisket on my plate was “shaved” and was more like lunch meat, while the brisket on my friends sandwich was thick and tender, and had a more smokey flavor. The BBQ beans were really really really good. I liked them alot.

Not super overwhelmed by the food here! Tried the burnt ends sandwich and it was decent but to be honest, there are so many better places to get BBQ in KC! Fries need to be bought separately which I am not a fan of. The pickles on the sandwich were terrible. The BBQ sauces were very average too. I think 3 stars is a fair review.

02/02/2023 We tried this restaurant again today. Sadly still a miss. The fries had no taste. My sandwich was ok, not great. My husband ordered the smoketown special said the brisket was ok; it was not his “cup of tea”. It’s very pricey for the portion size. Almost $40 for 2 sandwiches, 2 orders of fries and 2 soft drinks. Gave it a 2nd shot, won’t be back. Lastly the person taking orders was not very friendly, more interested being on their phone.
