I’ve had a lot of Mexican food in my life and Tia Queta was just okay! The chips were undersalted and the salsa was rather watery. However the vegetarian enchiladas were quite delicious, although this was one of the few vegetarian options on the menu. Also the only available dining space was the rooftop terrace and the fans did not do enough to cut through the Maryland humidity.

Tia Queta is a great family-owned Mexican place that has stood the test of time! The covered roof is lovely for margaritas and food in the summer, and downstairs is always cozy during the colder months. The house margarita on the rocks is a fresh go-to, the nachos with chicken or steak (made on individual chips to ensure crisp perfect bites) and shrimp tacos, or pork shoulder or short rib tacos seasonally, make for a fantastic meal. While they do have some typical familiar Mexican dishes, they also have amazing mole, seafood, and a wide variety of pork and beef options beyond what you’d expect from DC Mexican food. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and happy to go the extra mile when needed. Love this place.

Tia Queta has quickly become the restaurant that my whole family is suggesting when it is time to decide what we are eating for dinner. Not only does Tia Queta have undoubtedly the best Mexican food in Bethesda, but the rooftop bar is an unbeatable atmosphere, drinks are high quality and low priced, and service is always fast. I am writing this review as I believe this is a restaurant that everyone should walk into, and their consistency, great vibes, and excellent cuisine will bring you back!

Hands down the best Mexican food in the area. It’s family owned and operated. We visit once a week and the food is always so great! The quality is consistent and service is excellent. Tia Queta is amazing all year round but in the summer they have the terrace upstairs which is a great hangout spot – feels like you’re sitting in Mexico City. You also run into familiar faces here which adds to the family style appeal. I highly recommend visiting Tia Queta and enjoying the food and service yourself 🙂

Tia Queta is my favourite restaurant in Bethesda — I take all of my visitors there and everyone loves it, as well. The personal service and welcoming ambience is only exceeded by the fantastic food. Try the superb mole, the great beers on tap and enjoy the rooftop seating when the weather is warmer. Andrew, John and team really go out of their way to make all of their guests welcome! Highly recommended.

Customer service is stellar. Which is great because 99.9999 I dine alone. The gentleman is sooo nice. 2nd time I also met I believe one of owners daughter. Or maybe not. (Long blonde hair & young) She was so nice. Food the first time was great. Second time is was OK. Chicken enchiladas need more with flavor. Chicken seemed canned & mushyy. Like cilantro, small diced onions and cumin (little) However, the Verde sauce was very good.

This is my favorite place in Bethesda. Personable staff, big portions, good prices, and amazing food! The rooftop is a little bit of an oasis among the ever increasing number of cookie cutter high rises and chain restaurants. It’s too good to keep it Bethesda’s best kept secret!
