Absolutely cannot sing the praises of this place loud enough. The Food is incredible, Owner is super nice, and who can complain with a free Iced Tea? I can personally swear by the pulled pork, brisket, and to my knowledge every side. Looking forward to trying their Deep Dish Pizza. Only reason I tagged the atmosphere is it is what you would expect a pop-up, greasy-spoon type BBQ place to be, while it doesn’t bother me in the slightest I could see where some might be less than impressed.

Some of the food I can give a good rating, but was disappointed with the ribs and bake beans. So the wings were good, burnt ends was good that I recommend. The ribs as you can see in the photo was so meatless that if it had some sauce on them I couldn’t tell (oh yeah there wasn’t any sauce), the beans had no taste it looks like it burnt, so it was thrown away.

We’ve been trying to catch this spot during the week, but they close at 2pm so we went on the weekend and man was it worth the wait! We almost went somewhere else, but I’m so glad we didn’t!!!! 20/10 both meals were top tier.

Wow! Best barbecue I have had in the Richmond area. My very picky husband agrees. We both had the pork barbecue plates and tried all of the different sauces – all excellent. I ordered to-go at the restaurant. The restaurant and meat counter were immaculate, extremely clean and organized. The service was impeccable. It was everything you could ask for and more. The mac and cheese was delicious and the potato salad was very good as well. But the best part definitely was the pulled smoked pork – it was amazing! Can’t wait to go back!

If you’re looking for a place that obviously pours love into their food, these are your folks. You can tell they care about what they’re doing and what they serve. The ribs are always amazing, the fries speak to your inner fat kid in all the best ways and the sauce selection goes beyond your standard fare. I’m generally not a huge sweet sauce fan, but they have this apple based sauce that makes my tiny heart sing. It’s small with few table, so it’s best to plan to take it to go. Which doesn’t upset me at all because planning yourself a little picnic to enjoy it outside is something we all should do a little bit more of anyway.

I stopped in for lunch to try out their food, and was very impressed! The pulled pork sandwich was good quality, the slaw was fresh, and the lard fries were crispy and full of flavor!

Ate here yesterday. The real deal. Virginia style hard wood smoke barbeque. We had both the pork and brisket, plus, beans, collards, and cucumber salad. The meat was melt in your mouth, the sides excellent (which is always a good indicator) and the 4 handcrafted sauces, some of the best I’ve ever had. John Vest is not only a top notch pitmaster, but also a nice dude and a great host. Even though this place is brand new it feels like a throwback to my childhood. And they have complimentary ice tea to go with your meal. A big 2 thumbs up!

I love the concept and the food. Local sourcing of meat, compostable utensils, Mexican Coke, nice people. We tried the pork and the chicken barbecue sandwiches. For the sides, we got mac and cheese, potato salad and fries. The fries are fried in lard. I was pretty excited about this because I knew they would be delicious but I’m also avoiding vegetable and seed oils at the moment. They were indeed delicious. And the sauces… the sauces! Amazing. I love sauces so we tried a few on the sandwiches and dipped the fries in them. All so good. I think my favorite was the spicy version of the crossroads. My only criticism is the slaw was a little bland. I’m looking forward to going back.

Very friendly counter service restaurant to get high quality, fresh, and local food. Brisket and specials are sold on the weekends Potato salad was great, fresh coleslaw, chicken and fries are cooked in lard (very tasty), and I saw jackfruit on the menu. Very solid sauces. And complimentary tea. Yes, free tea. The star of the show here is the smoked pork shoulder. You can tell they know what they are doing.
