Stopped in and the pineapple margarita was to die for and the appetizer with guacamole, black bean dip, queso and salsa was fantastic. They use all fresh squeezed juices for the drinks which I love and you could tell the appetizer was made from scratch. Bartender was so friendly and we loved chatting with her. Definitely a great spot!

Such great food!! The queso was absolutely amazing and so are the chips! The burgers and quesadillas are phenomenal. Workers were also super sweet :))

My husband and I are big Mexican food fans and we’re excited to try this spot. The vibe here was cool but in my opinion the good and service was nothing special. My husband and and I both got different tacos and they were alright. We got a kids bowl and that was mediocre. The service was just alright as well. We had to ask for our chips to come out initially maybe 3 times. Our server did package up my sweet tea at the end for me to take on the road which was kind. Overall it was good but didn’t exceed expectations.

I’m in Isle of Palms for an event this week. Tonight’s dinner wasn’t included, so a few of my fellow attendees and I ventured out in search of local flavor. Mex 1 Coastal Cantina did not disappoint! The salsa beats all free salsa I have ever had… and I’ve had a LOT of free salsa, y’all! Amazing. For dinner I had the Cantina Salad. It was delicious. The main thing I noticed was that the cilantro lime dressing wasn’t the same as every other cilantro lime dressing! It was thick! Almost like a tzatziki sauce! Fantastic! I love it when something unexpected hits like that! Our server was attentive and on point. The DJ had a killer playlist, too! Great job, Mex 1! You have a new fan. I’ll stop in again, next time I’m in town! ❤️

Frozen Margarita with Sangria was amazing! The guacamole was delicious. Service was fast. Overall, my entree was not what I expected, I ordered a chicken bowl.. except the chicken had no seasoning at all on it.. I ate most of everything else except for the chicken. It did not taste like it was smoked or had anything cooked with it. Wish I would’ve ordered something else.

Mex 1 Coastal Cantina, I cannot say enough about this place. The staff and the food are equally Awesome and Incredible! In fact we had such an enchanting experience that we came back again the next day, and low and behold, the same great service. The Pineapple Margarita and the Baja Bowls are highly recommended. Flavor and a Great Time.

We ordered takeout and we were not impressed. The salsa and queso were decent but the rest was “blah.” The “fresh catch” tasted frozen, the chicken quesadilla wasn’t that great and was salty, and the tacos were not good (especially for $6 each). Wouldn’t recommend getting takeout there.

Perfect location for pre or post-beach food. The nachos were good, but the chip-to-topping ratio could be dialed in a bit. Once you eat the top layer, there’s really no point in the remaining mountain of plain chips. The jefe marg was great, and I loved the fish and shrimp tacos. Service was friendly and we had everything we needed.

Food was done well and came out fast, the quest appetizer was a table favorite, I had the Baja bowl and thought it was really good, the rest of the food looked tasty too. We came in between lunch and dinner and there was some employees messing with lights and other things that was a little distracting but didn’t last too long.

Had a great very casual dinner here. Lots of porch seating, with a bar open to the porch and to the indoor seating, which is also fairly open with large windows. We started with the Triple Dipper – guacamole, great queso, and corn and black bean salsa and all the chips we could eat – and our table of four had two quesadillas (chicken and carne asada, both recommended) and two Baja bowls (mani and bangin’ shrimp, both recommended). The churro donut holes with caramel dipping sauce were the topper. Try the frozen margarita swirled with sangria.
