Maligne is a mixture of contemporary European and classic American dining, it’s an approachable fine dining restaurant. Our seafood-driven menu celebrates the bounty of the surrounding region’s land and sea. Inspired by the warm and generous hospitality Chef Klaus Georis witnessed in his childhood, along with his work in Michelin-star restaurants on two continents. Klaus and his team now bring the excellence and integrity of a fine dining experience to their community.
Maligne, which derives from the French word for “clever,” “sly,” or even “troublesome,” indicates that Chef Georis is eager to put his own playfully irreverent spin on contemporary gastronomy.

This cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! Hospitable staff, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, wide wine list and wonderful dessert. The food is Excellent! Menu is extensive and seasonal to a particularly high standard. I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again.

Waiting for food arrival was a bit much but if you’re hanging with friends it’s cool to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the company.

We loved the space. The wood charcoal food preparation was amazing to watch, and the flavors from that type of preparation, especially the vegetables was truly wonderful, reminiscent of European wood charcoal grill cooking we encountered in Portugal.

One of the best restaurants on the Monterey Peninsula! Klaus and his team brought an unforgettable experience and unreal food to the table. The big six top table seated next to a big open window was quite the experience. A lot of natural light and a nice beautiful open restaurant. It was so cool that they invited us into the kitchen to see their process. We got to see our whole chicken cooking in the corner nestled in some bricks by the fire. The chicken was one of the best chickens I’ve ever had and the whole family thought so too.! We will definitely be making this one of our regular spots. The onion rings are unbelievable and I don’t even like onion rings! My father’s biggest complaint about the restaurant was that there was not a spoon at the table to get all of the sauce off of the plate!

Absolutely fantastic food! The scallop was amazing and the sea bass might be the best I have ever had. My third visit and every time it has been great. Klaus Georis is an amazing chef.

We had dinner here a week ago and really enjoyed the restaurant. Service and food was excellent . The one problem we had was we did a $155 deposit for the reservations and have not received that back. Dinner was $310.01 but with a $155 deposit on top of that it has not made me happy. Nobody answers the phone, voicemail is full and email address given on the website doesn’t work. They need to work on this part of the business.

I had pizza for lunch. The crust was burned on half of the pizza and although the pizza wasn’t that bad, I’d recommend Heirloom Pizza in Monterey. This is the second time I tried this place and the first time I asked for the prawns which were not cleaned and undercooked which made it difficult to remove the shell. Suffice to say, this is the last time I’ll eat at this place. In regards to the atmosphere, they have the music way too loud.
