The best blue plate lunch in Jackson can be found at Lizzie’s House on any given day! Currently a plate meal is $5.50 it comes with your choice of meat, 3 sides, and cornbread/roll. There is something for everyone. You can even get a veggie plate. My favorite is the baked chicken. It’s delicious and seasoned to perfection. All fried items are cooked when ordered.

I called in an order for two plates at 11:26 as I was headed that way. I arrived, gave my name, and was told they weren’t ready. Well after noon and after watching a number of people come in, order multiple plates, and leave, another patron entered and ordered dressing. I politely told them that I had called in an order over 45 minutes before, requested dressing, and was told they had none. I asked them to replace the alternate side for dressing since they had it. A guy named Larry was asked to come talk to me about it. Upon again making the request, he asked me if I called him out there for a bowl of dressing with an attitude. I told him that I didn’t call him, I simply made the request. He told me he had 1,000 folks to feed and I was just one of them. I asked if he was getting smart with me as his tone was horrible. We kinda laughed it off and he said that they had just found 5 servings (?) and that he’d get it for me. He brought it out and said my plates were coming. I repeated what he said to which he said, “Yes.” Again, I waited at that point to well over an hour. Another guy who was running plates saw that I had clearly been there far too long asked my name. He went to the back and returned saying that my ticket wasn’t back there. Larry returned to the front and found that my plates had been sitting there the entire time. He was fussing saying they were right there. I was obviously frustrated at that point. The lady just held her hand out for the money. I asked her if they were cold because they had been sitting there since before I walked in. No comment. Larry said they weren’t cold because it was in styrofoam. I said they had been sitting there and I had waited over an hour. I had been watching each round of plates come out anticipating my order. He then asked me if I wanted them or not with a nasty attitude like I was wasting his time. I calmly told the lady that I had waited over an hour for plates that had been there the entire time and didn’t want cold food. I asked again if they were cold and she shrugged. The turkey neck plate was a little warm and the pork chop plate with fries was not upon touch. Larry was still barking, “Do you want ‘em or not?” I told her that I would just get the turkey neck plate and not the other since it was cold. He then started fussing talking about he couldn’t take it back because I put my naked hand on it and on and on. (How else could I tell if it was hot?) He continued to fuss and talk AT me like he was crazy. Rather than show my behind in front of all the people in there, I simply said, “I can spend me money elsewhere,” and walked out leaving everything there. Mind you, that was my 3rd time there this week and the 5th plate ordered. I’ve been a customer since you could walk to the back cafeteria area and order. And this was not the 1st time that had happened. Another lady who was waiting asked what time I had called in and stated that she had placed her order at 11:20 and hadn’t gotten her food. The total lack of professionalism displayed, disrespect, and disregard for my time, business, and oversight on THEIR part was beyond unacceptable. No apology, no attempt to make things right, nasty attitude… I will not be returning.

1 star for the lady with the blond bob her attitude is pure trash!! I ordered 2 plates. One Pan trout and one Catfish. Instead of her telling me they were out of catfish when she found out, I had to hear her tell a guy coming through the door.

Lizzies House is a great low end eatery. Its food is good for the 6.25 price which includes meat two vegetables and a drink. It is also a great place to have a meal being that it helps support a shelter and a ministry ran out of the same building. The food and atmosphere though not considered high end is in good taste as are the prices and customer service.
