Great spot in an area where options are limited.

The food was excellent. About the service I could say much because we were the only customers in the restaurant and we got the precious attention of all the waitress. I was not sure about ordering the rice ball, but, with my surprise , they were very good and reminded me of my Sicilian town taste.

Had a very subpar meal.. stopped in for lunch because it was close to circle line tours. Not sure what happened to my broccolini but it tasted so wine-y it was inedible. Other people in my party weren’t impressed with their pasta either. Wait staff was kind but not very attentive nor welcoming. They liked the pizza though.

We came for an early dinner while visiting in NYC. They checked for my allergies to ensure I wasn’t getting anything I shouldn’t (soy & oregano). Staff was friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. We will definitely be back!

First time visiting this restaurant and I am not gonna lie, it did NOT disappoint. Nice cozy place, great food selection and great service.

Again, as soon as we walked in, a very aggressive waiter working the lunch shift, made us feel like we were tourists that don’t tip.

I happened upon La Vela during my business trip to NYC. I ended up eating there every day, as the food was incredible. The service and ambiance are excellent. The restaurant is also close to the Jacob Javits Center, which makes it all the more favorable. I will be back.

One of the best places to get a dinner in NYC especially if you are at the Javits Center and want something close. I’d come early as I feel like all the tables would be gone within the first hour after any major convention. One reason — the FOOD.

Service was not the best, the staff didn’t make us feel welcoming at all. We ordered some bread at first, normally the staff should at least say ok or something to let us know he heard us, but he just turned his head saying nothing. Atmospheric was a bit dark, but the music was actually quite good. Food was ok, the best is probably the bread. Overall everything was ok.

Every New Yorker knows the value and importance of a trusted neighborhood restaurant. Mine is La Vela. Whether you live here or are visiting for work I cannot recommend this place more! Occasionally I’ll host a business lunch in their newly renovated dinning room but more often I find myself and long time business partner hanging out at the bar. Here is where the magic really happens as La Vela’s owner and chef, Antonio (along with his trusted team) deliver a heartfelt mix of conversation and fare. What better place than the bar to get a front row view to the making of a delicious pizza in their custom old fashioned pizza oven. I love both the handmade margherita pizza as well as the branzino…both are deliciously fresh, tasty and the price is right! I highly recommend this place – you won’t be disappointed!
