I recently visited this restaurant and while some of the food was enjoyable, there were some hits and misses. I tried the shrimp burrito, guacamole, tortilla soup, and taco shrimp. The shrimp burrito was definitely the standout dish, packed with flavor and very satisfying. Unfortunately, the tortilla soup didn’t meet my expectations and the taco shrimp was quite plain tasting. However, I did appreciate the full bar and the drinks were quite good. The restaurant is small but has a nice outdoor dining area. The staff were polite and our food and drinks arrived promptly. While I don’t plan to return to this restaurant, I recommend giving it a try and checking out the shrimp burrito!

Towards the end of the main path you’ll find COMO, a zesty Mexican eatery where most were seated outside. It was a chilly day for us so we ventured inside and were met with groovy 70s tune and a psychedelic mural on the wall. Once in, our friendly server Isis who couldn’t be any cooler and chill with her killer smile and wavy brown curls took our orders. We got the tacos, burritos, queso dip, and chix tortilla soup. For drinks we had their margaritas, modelo and Cabernet. The tacos come w hand made corn tortillas that albeit were a little tender and broke easily, tasted magnificent and went super well with our carnitas, carne asada, fish, shrimp, and cauliflower tacos. Each taco had their own unique flavoring, glad we went for the different options. My chix tortilla soup came brimming w toasted tortillas and was the best Mexican sopa I’ve had in my life. Our little piggie Greg ordered the burrito, had it wet style, which meant that it came topped with both their red and green sauce, that tasted so good it made his eyes roll to the back of his head and squeal w delight. The margs came w freshly squeezed lime juice, the only way a good margarita is made. Our food came fast, our service was good, and the food tasted was great! Glad we made a pit stop in Truckee.

We had lunch here on a Tuesday and sat outside despite the chilly weather (we had our dog with us).

Definitely hit and miss. On the plus side the street tacos were quite tasty (had the Salsa Negra Pork and Carne Asada Taco). And the Shrimp Burrito (served in a bowl) was also good. On the other hand the queso dip was barely warm, too thick to use chips on, and fairly bland. And that lead to another problem…you can only order from the ‘Toast’ app. There are not servers, just runners. I get that it’s a way to be more efficient with the number of people working, but there are a few obvious things wrong with this: 1) this takes away from the benefit of asking about dishes; 2) The runners don’t come by unless they are dropping off food; 3) there isn’t a way to get a runner over aside from getting up and getting someone’s attention who happens to be dropping food off (could be easily fixed in the app itself with a ‘Request A Server’ button); 4) There wasn’t a way to order something not on the menu…like a side of jalapenos. I did also ask for some hot sauce, was told it was on the app. Found the habanero hot sauce…for $0.75. OK, interesting. They delivered it in a small container with less than a tablespoon of hot sauce, for $0.75…what is this world coming to?

Fresh food, easy ordering and pay, slow service. Stopped by around 12:45 on a Saturday afternoon and stood in line fo4 about 10 minutes before being greeted to put our names on the waitlist. We watched the entire outside empty and tables cleaned when we got called at 1:30 to sit down. At least we got to choose our seats. The food was fresh, but just okay. If we were to go back, I would probably order to go. Would have been much faster

Como is a highly underrated restaurant in Truckee. Their quality is consistent and more of a higher end Mexican restaurant which makes it stand out from the many options that offer more street style Mexican. The chips are a must and I recommend pairing with quac. My favorite is their cocktails, I’ve tried them all and would order them all again.
