I pulled up to drive-in ordering window 15 minutes before closing with three hungry kids excited to get burgers and root beer floats. No response from employees. We could see the employees in the back of the restaurant. We waited five minutes while my kids looked up an alternative nearby, Hi Boy was a few minutes away and they sell burgers and shakes, so on our way out we noticed employees had the back door open and we could them three employees standing around laughing and having a great time. Giving this place one star for poor service and atmosphere. Our experience at Hi Boy was excellent, we showed up 3 minutes until close and felt welcomed by the multiple employees. Thank you so much A&W at East 40th St, my kids are now Hi Boy fans. It’s only 2 minutes away from A&W. My kids are happy, I’m happy.

Great service and food but the restaurant needs fixing up. The bathrooms were disgusting. The beverage dispenser does not work. No condiments were available. Had to request them.

The drive thru was cash only, seemed a bit shady to me. Very little food for what they charge and the fries very, very greesy. Fish have been getting chintzyer over the past year or two. I get inflation but hike prices and keep the food the same. Not both!!

The Root beer floats that we got were tasty as always, but I would say it’s time for A&W to do some renovations. I believe that this would drive up business, and keep people coming back. Also we waited in the drive thru for roughly 20 minutes. There were 2 cars in front of us, so who knows what they ordered, but when we pulled up to get our floats it still took 3-5 minutes.

Like everyone has already said this place is a nasty joke. Waited 20+ minutes for two simple meals. The first cashier didn’t even know they had chicken strips. Their ice machine is down in the dining room and they don’t bother telling anyone. Several sodas were empty in the dining room as well and instead of fixing it they just filled your cup in drive thru and talked to their friends. After trying two different sodas that tasted putrid I asked for a bottled water. I was told they’re out and she doesn’t know when they’ll order more, then she just stared at me. The bathroom smelled terrible, the toilet was brown, and when I attempted to wash my hands before eating, drain flies flew everywhere out of the drain. Needless to say I didn’t use the facilities. The food tasted like old grease, although it was hot. Other customers around us were having the same issues. One group even left after waiting 10 minutes at the register and getting no help. What a useless place. Either need all new teams or its time to shut it down. Smh.

Drive through takes forever. Not the place to go if you are in a hurry. However the food is always good and the cheese curds are the bomb. Wish they still had lobster bites. Those rocked too. We like to get the root beer freezes but they are not consistant in how they are made. Often they put far to much ice cream in them but it works out in your favor as long as you don’t mind stopping and picking up more root beer because you technically can turn the one freeze into two

The inside of the store is very run down. There are very few locations still open in KC & this is the closest to me. I had a craving for the chicken, fish & shrimp but, was extremely disappointed with my order. Nothing was fresh. I initially went through the drive thru & when I saw they gave me old fries & no ranch with my cheese bites (after she asked me at the window if I wanted some ranch) I had to go inside. The hand washing sink is grody & I swear no one ever used it. I’m also pretty sure they just took my fries & re-dipped them to make them hot again. I threw the food away. Never going back there….
