A great place to come for fish. I recommend their delicious Asa Tibs/Fried Catfish, but their Derek Tibs (beef) are also amazing.

First time having Ethiopian food and it was lovely. The platters offer lots of flavor options and encourage lots of sharing. Eating a meal like this entirely with your hands is something I’m not too used to, but it was a great experience.

If you are looking for the feeling of home-cooked, family style, then this is the spot. I stumbled into this place on a recent trip and filled my belly on some yummy spiced foods. You can’t go wrong with any veggie options. While the meat is not the highest quality, the spices and sauce make for a tasty treat.

This the second time I ate in this restaurant. Earlier was in 2020 and now at 2023. The food quality is still same. We ordered same items as before. Such as Family Vegetarian Special, Doro wot, Misto and Tiramisu. We did not try Misto before. Before this time we tried Tibsi. The balance of spices was too good. We could not stop eating. I have one caution for future visitors. If you are not a spice lover please don’t come here. Similarly, if you are spicy food lover never forget to try this restaurant.

Great food, lots of veg options, very flavorful and affordable! Highly recommend the missir wot and shiro wot. The injera is so soft. We got the family vegetarian combo with an additional order of missir wot and it was a good amount of food for 4 people. If you like spice, ask for the Mitamita powder on the side!

Woah! Family Ethiopian Restaurant was exactly what we were looking for in DC. Our family came from several corners of the country to enjoy the meat and vegetable platter, eating communal style with injera was an authentic way to come together. The spices and seasonings were savory bites with the tangy injera, balanced and served by friendly folks who eventually took pity on us and agreed to bring us some forks. Everything about our dinner was an enjoyable experience we’ll remember for a long time.

Hidden gem in Mt. Vernon!! When people mention fire Ethiopian food I think I hear AdMo but this place is sosososo delicious! When our food was brought out, our whole table literally “ooh aah”-ed. My friends got the family special and I got the kitfo. The taste was as flavorful as we expected from the fragrance.
