At our Florence, SC location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I had a great meal tonight from Captain D’s. When I was growing up my favorite place to eat Fish & Chips was Cedric’s. They introduced me to crispy fried Cod drenched in Malt Vinegar. But “The Captain and his crew” slayed it tonight! I ordered the 3 pc Spicy Fish & Chips (fries) online and they made it ready to order. When I arrived at the ship 10 minutes after ordering, they told me that they had just dropped it in the fryer. That’s when I knew it was going to be a good night. Well done!

My visit today was strange. They were out of many foods. I ordered and sat down. I waited for my food and when it was brought, it was the wrong fish. She took it back, but then immediately brought out the other fish. It wasn’t very hot, so that was disappointing. Then the man I’m guessing was the manager checked on the 2 other tables, but did not check on me. People were coming in, but they told them they were only doing carry out and about the foods they didn’t have. Several people left. As the other tables cleared, they told me they weren’t trying to rush me but to let them know when I was leaving so they could lock the door behind me. Not 5 minutes later, people came in, but they were allowed to dine in. I was very confused. At that point I slowed back down my eating since there was no hurry. Since I like the food, I will go back, but it was definitely an unusual experience. I would love to get the baked potato, but it’s too expensive to substitute. The fries are good too though. Same for corn on the cob, so I just stick with the coke slaw. I’m picky about Cole slaw, but theirs is good. Gotta love the hush puppies! Always a win.

Waited in the drive through line for 20 min with only one vehicle ahead of me. To be so early in the evening at 7, the food tasted like it had been under the heat lamps for hours, not crisp at all.

I ordered a seafood platter with loaded baked potato. I got 3 shrimps,no hush puppies. My loaded potato was just cheese on top. When I called to tell them about it..I was just told to call back when manager is in. I’ll never go back!!!

Tried to place online order for pickup and twice the website had the “Oops, something went wrong, try again in a minute” pop-up, but the transactions were showing on our bank account. Tried calling restaurant to make sure the order only came through once, but employee said they didn’t receive any order at all. Husband asked if we were going to be charged twice, employee didn’t know and said to call GM tomorrow. Husband drove to restaurant to order in person, and restaurant was out of both meals we wanted to order. Now we get to wait and see if these pending transactions are deducted from our checking account. Be wary of using their online ordering!!

My mother and I went there before 11am. The asst. manager and the rest of the staff were inviting and fun. We ate in and the food was marvelous. They have a senior menu on Wednesdays (which is a great deal for the meals we chose). The iced tea was superb. I highly recommend eating in or taking out from this Captain D’s.

This was a chicken tender plate from captain Ds highly unsatisfied. We order 8 fish plates and 2 tender plates they all looked like this for $100 I think we should’ve gotten at least more fries.
