I do not usually write negative reviews, but feel like tonight’s experience is warranted. I am a local and was excited to try The Pheasant and have been waiting for the perfect trip out. Made a late reservation thinking it would be less crowded and more enjoyable. Our drinks originally took a decently long time, but with one bartender and a full house, that’s to be expected. Our issue solely was with the food. Ordered the bread and butter- delicious, the pickled farm vegetables were odd to say the least, bright pink and hard to even eat. Finished our meal with the rib eye ($42), which is listed as being served medium rare, but we asked for it to be cooked medium. The steak came out rare. I am more accustomed to rarer meat, but this was far too rare even for me. Asked for a box and cooked it more at home. Maybe Labor Day weekend wasn’t their finest moment, but unfortunately they have lost some local business.

I had a fantastic experience here at the bar. I had the kind of bartender who could ask you a few questions about what you liked and knew exactly what wine and food to bring you, so much so that I asked her to pick my dinner for me. She didn’t miss. The food, drink and atmosphere were incredible.

Beautiful restaurant and the food and drinks were incredible. Coming from a big city with a lot of good food, it’s very hard to a this style of a restaurant. The mussel toast was our favorite!

Incredible dining experience. Some of the most sophisticated food being made on the Cape right now!

Buzzy atmosphere, and good food. We enjoyed the sharing concept. Everything we tried was really good, the scallops we’re especially nice! The little wine shop inside the restaurant where you can pick your wine for dinner is such a nice touch too. We enjoyed our evening. It took a little time after our reservation time to get the table, but otherwise no issues

Not your usual Cape menu. Eclectic small shareable plates as well as larger entrees. Wines are chosen from their “wine shop”, an extention of their other business. Small but excellent draft beer selection. Open hearth , exposed beams style dinning area. Bustling not quiet.

DENNIS LOCAL GEM – WHAT EVERY LOCAL RESTAURANT SHOULD BE! Here’s why I want you to try this place, setting is beautiful, thoughtful styling with old cape cod charm. Barman is really cool and delivers some great hand crafted cocktails, food is locally sourced, well presented and wonderful. Differentiated approach to their wine list by offering an on-site wine library with some really great and thoughtful choices. PLUS this is a young husband and wife team who are bringing an elevated dining experience to the Cape AMBIENCE – Really delivers Cape charm and style in a beautiful and elegant way. WINE/DRINKS – selected list of handcrafted cocktails supported by an in house ‘wine store’ offering a curated list of wines at retail prices that can be drunk in house for a $10 corkage fee. Great concept and the owner if onsite will walk you through the wines on offer FOOD locally sourced and beautifully presented, for example we had scallops sourced by a local fishing vessel and chicken by a farmer on the Cape where the poultry is produced as ethically and organically as possible (see pics) SERVICE Always slightly annoying seeing the table next you that was seated after you get their food and drinks first, but despite that our waiter was very well informed and helpful in guiding us through the menu. SUMMARY – we loved meeting the husband and wife owners Adam and Erica, starting a restaurant just before COVID began can’t have been easy, but the quality of the food, alongside the beautiful setting and well thought out drink offerings are likely to ensure this elevated dining experience will thrive! Thank you for hosting us!

This place is incredible and deserves 5 stars! The ambiance was cozy, very friendly wait staff and amazing food! We loved the cocktail list as well. We loved the living wine store and appreciated meeting Adam, the owner. I’ve been coming to Brewster/Dennis area for 37 years and yes, this place is different than other run of the mill seafood and coleslaw restaurants. It’s a welcome addition to the many legacy restaurants in the area and the community should welcome the pheasant with open arms. Excited to return ASAP!

The best dinner I have had on Cape Cod. The quality and diversity of the food was second to none. The farm pickles, mussel toast, and roast lamb were marvelous. So much attention to detail in those dishes. I will be coming back next year.

The food was excellent but didn’t inform the customer in advance that they add a steep 20% service fee on top of bill before the tip, so we ended up paying 40% more for our ordered food ($45 bringing the total to A$145 for dinner for two), which is too much. Since they don’t warn you on the menu, verbally, or with a sign at the hostess stand, we were not happy. Docked the service rating for lack of honesty.
