Excellent BBQ. We were passing through Golden and found you accidentally. Very lucky find. Pulled pork was delicious and moist, brisket was tender and juicy, Slaw was great (just enough sweet and perfect tang), and I loved the spicy BBQ sauce.

Well to start as soon as I walked in the man behind the counter seemed irritated he had to stop looking at his phone to help me, if I tried to ask about something he just pointed to the wall where the menu was. He doesnt seem to like what he does which definitely hurts the business. Next the food was mediocre at best. Both meats I had were pretty much cold, but the sides were boiling which tells me they were microwaved before he brought them out. Sad I wasted 25 bucks and a half hour of my time to feel like an inconvenience. If there was a 0 star that’s what I’d give… DO NOT RECOMMEND

GREAT BBQ! The outside might make you wonder, however, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. The smokey goodness is permeated throughout the meats with the right amount of smoke. Hatch Chillis mixed into a couple sides gives it a unique flavor with the right amount of heat. Don’t pass this one by, you’ll be sorry if you do. Trust this local guide, it could compete with the best in St Louis.

The food is only ok. Without the bbq sauce the chicken, brisket and pulled pork I got on my 3 meat plate were nearly identical except the color. Not flavorful in the sense that Bbq should be. Everything chopped, except the pulled pork, which looked identical to the chopped chicken. Unfortunately on my end I ordered hush puppies and sweet potater tots, the tots I thought would look like tots, so when I confused them for the hush puppies I called to say I didn’t receive the tots, the guy who answered immediately copped an attitude and said I was looking at them. Lol, I was, totally. But a good attitude and simply saying, the 3 smaller looking hush puppies are actually the tots woulda made it enjoyable, and set me on the right path.

Delicious! Ordered the Big Tex brisket sandwich with a side of the campfire beans and added the green Chile Mac and cheese. Tasted the pulled chicken, coleslaw, sweet potato tater tots, and Texas toast. Hit the spot! My favorite was definitely the brisket, home made pickles and the green Chile Mac and cheese. Also, all of their sauces are great!

All sides are delicious. The #1 item by our party vote is the key lime pie “the best ever” a few agreed. Kind service and quality food,

Pulled Pork tasted too smokey. Kinda tasted too much like the wood they used for smoking it. Their BBQ sauce and sweet tea are just ok.

Can’t help it but I like this place. I guess it’s kind of cozy in a man-cave sort of way. They carry local brews and since they’re (you’d think I’d ask if the guy doing everything is the owner and his name) not having dine-in let your creativity come out and find someplace to have the repast. For me knowing Golden a bit I chose this little known greenbelt at Camp George West’s backyard shared with NREL. Quiet, few people and my spot. Don’t you dare come to my spot without TIN STAR BBQ. Supporting local is too easy with good food like this. The Groupon was an added incentive. Tin Star supports local breweries with GCB, Golden City Brewery, being one of them. I should go to GCB to review them (great outdoor tasting room especially appealing to the outdoorsy in Winter). Oh those rabbit trails‼️ Any way… oh yeah I hope the pics turned out. They are my idea of BYOcreativity.

The wonderful aroma when you walk in the front are simply the starting point: the taste backs all those mouth watering smells up! From the homemade pickles to the spicy bbq sauce, the perfect combination of flavors. Can’t wait to come back and try more menu items!

Tin Star Smokehouse is amazing! Had the brisket, pulled pork, rib tips, hush puppies, pickles, and chili mac and cheese with a variety of house made sauces. All the meat is dry rubbed and smoked on site with a combination of mesquite and fruit wood. This means you can taste the smoke up front while being left with a sweet finish that highlights the flavor of the rub. The sauces compliment various meats beautifully, although the rib tips were succulent all on their own. The meat was perfect; neither overcooked nor greasy. The hush puppies are the best we’ve had outside of KY. And they make their own lemonade! The owners are friendly and passionate about what they do; great service, atmosphere, and flavor. Don’t let the location dissuade you; it’s well worth it to stop and try. Over and over and over again!
