Super tasty! We had a chicken katzu curry. Very well made with the right amount of spice. No wait time but this can fluctuate as the shop is within Chelsea market. There is no seating area. Standing only (they have a comfortable ledge to put food on). Worth every penny. All dishes are under about $30 and portions are perfect for one person.

The food was great, portions were ok, not as big as in many restaurants around the city, but decent for a food market and the price.

This was a great bowl of ramen! Very flavourful broth and noodles were perfect. It got a bit too rich for me after the first couple of bites but it was not overly salty that I was chugging water afterwards. Great place, wish there were some barstools to sit on while enjoying my bowl of ramen!

I came because of Chef Esther Choi but the ho cake was just ok. Next time I want to try some noodles and hope I change the review. The location of this place is bad as the taco place nextdoor is so busy and everyone try to use Mokbar table but they limited to their customer only. I ordered from both places that day, and I was having the tacos while waiting for my ho cake and staff asked me nicely that the table is limited for Mokbar customer. I told the staffs I am waiting for my food and they were ok after.

I don’t normally do this… but I decided to share my experience because I was surprisingly and thoroughly really disappointed in the Korean bbq chicken I ordered. The chicken looked and tasted burnt. I did order the mild sauce, but the chicken itself had no flavor to it. I was so sad because I was really looking forward to trying this place. there is an incredible Korean bbq place in Philly that I go to normally, and I guess I was expecting the same or better quality of food trying this place out since it’s in a much more popular location. My advise, pass on this place if you want good Korean bbq.

We went here at peak hours to grab some lunch and we got the beef bulgogi bowl with noodles. Kimchi was very good (coming from two people who were apprehensive to it at first). The beef flavor was delectable and the overall dish was well made. Pretty good value if you are splitting it like we did (around $8 each). It was an overall great portion for two somewhat hungry people (I’d advise getting a side dish if both of you are hungry). Our only complaint was that we would like a bigger portion of beef and the beef to be more in strips rather than small crumbles. Would definitely recommend!! Pair it with a tea from the bubble tea place downstairs!

Flavorless chicken Ramen & chicken katsu that tasted like they dumped 15 cinnamon sticks in the pot. No seating available either. All in all very disappointing BUT the cashier was very nice.

Delicious ramen noodles! I love their chicken ramen. The broth is so thick and delicious, the noodles is perfectly cooked. Perfect bowl of noodles. Nice fusion of Japanese and Korean food. Bibimbap was also good.

This place is pretty known on IG. It’s located in the Chelsea Market. I got the bimbibap with pork and ramen. Honestly, it was kinda hyped up too much. The ramen is really good. However, it was really overwhelming to eat for my taste. Perhaps the oils or the sweet flavor. Personally, I prefer this meal in a hot clay pot – how it typically is given/prepared. So it wasn’t favorable to my liking. I will give it the benefit of the doubt that hopefully their ramen soups are good.

I got inspired to head out to Mokbar after seeing Esther on Iron Chef on Netflix. We got the classic ramen to see what the hype was about and let me tell you, it’s worth it. The broth is subtle but bold with flavours, the ingredients are fresh, and there’s enough for you to feel full, but not feel cheated. With a few different locations, I’d recommend a sit down location since I think there are more options, and the ambiance would’ve added to the experience
