Every time I’m in Bangor we make sure to make a reservation at Fiddlehead. The food and drinks are absolutely amazing! They are a farm to table restaurant and whatever they don’t get from their farm they source locally and I really think that makes all the difference. They serve unique takes on dishes you’ve had before. On my last visit one of the specials was a tomato salad with a balsamic glaze and some olive oil, goat cheese and basil with crostini. Sounds simple enough and something I’ve enjoyed before at other places, but WOW! The tomatoes were perfect! They were juicy but not watery and were complimented so nicely with the cheese and balsamic & oil. I was in heaven and that was only starter. My dishes just went up the yummy meter after that! I was too full to order dessert this time around. You would be doing yourself a disservice by not eating here if you’re in the area. I don’t think there’s a place I can recommend to eat at more!

This is a return visit to Fiddlehead and an updated review. I have had three visits, two were great and one just ok. This last visit was great. I ordered the hanger streak and had one of their speciality cocktails. My servers were great very friendly and accommodating. They made the meal fun. The steak was cooked just right which is always something I carefully consider in reviewing a restaurant. My cocktail had some flair with the burnt orange peel.

Firstly, the staff here was a breath of fresh air. It’s rare you go to a restaurant and are served by people that actually enjoy their jobs. The waitresses laughed uproariously several times while I was there.

Exceptional dining that was easily our best meal in Maine and reviews well against any restaurant in the country. The cheese board featured three well paired and delicious cheeses along with a great sorpresetta. The star of the show were the perfectly cooked and well seasoned lamb chops. Also at the table was a seared halibut with brown butter roasted cauliflower that was equally great. If I lived in Maine, I would be back frequently but I feel prevliged to have had the chance to experience the hospitality and great food of Laura and her team. Excellent work, ladies.

Some say it is loud. Yes, it is a place to celebrate and do it with exuberance.

Excellent service and inventive, tasty food. We ordered the burger, pork belly, and tofu, but there’s no bad option on this rotating menu chock full of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The best part, though, was that the restaurant never rushes its customers through their meals, so we enjoyed a lengthy, relaxing meal at our leisure. Be sure to indulge the complimentary cornbread with molasses — it’s plate-lickin good!
