During my recent trip to New Delhi, I was captivated by the place’s historical charm and luxury. From the carved wooden decorative elements to the traditional tableware, the ambiance was definitely upscale. The menus were artfully crafted with a short history of each dish, which added to the experience. My friend and I tried the Balti-style mango prawn, Bombay saffron Bhuna lamb, and rice. Although the food was fresh and well-cooked, it wasn’t anything too special, considering the elaborate menu they had. While the service was friendly, our server appeared spread thin. Overall, New Delhi is a great place to host big celebrations in style, but for a more authentic/modern Indian food experience, I would explore other options.

The best. Period. Beautiful atmosphere, adorable staff, and the best Indian food in SF as far as I’m concerned AND at a fair price. Fresh, well seasoned, med heat, not too oily…fabulous house cocktails. I can’t tell you how over-the-moon I was to discover they’d weathered the pandemic. Just off Powell without being the TL-TL yet; 2 blocks from SF Playhouse so a perfect before theater eat; easy walk to and from the Muni. And feels like dining out, like ACTUALLY DINING OUT! Indian Food Heaven.

I heard about New Delhi restaurant for years through many different social circles but I can’t believe I waited so long to try it myself. It has been a year since I have been coming here and it gets better with every visit. It is honestly a gem of a restaurant.

Service and atmosphere were top notch. Unfortunately the food just wasn’t that good. And it was VERY expensive for a small portion. They also charged a service charge and then asked for a tip on the little credit card machine. I had the chicken tikka masala curry.

Wonderful! I loved the atmosphere of the place and the food was top notch. We tried several dishes and all were spectacular. I especially want to shout out the chicken Korma. Hands down the best Korma I have ever had. The service was fantastic. We even got to meet the owner who is absolutely lovely. 10 for 10 on everything here!

This dining experience was superb! My husband and I are visiting SanFrancisco for the first time and dined at New Delhi to celebrate his birthday. The owner/chef himself came to our table and offered us his recommendations from drinks to appetizers to entrees and dessert. Everything was incredible!!! The atmosphere was perfect for a date night. We enjoyed everything we had and will definitely come back if we are ever back in the area. 10/10 recommend!

Absolutely incredible experience. We’re in San Francisco for a few days and this restaurant was across the street from our hotel. It is probably some of the best Indian cuisine I have ever have. Service was super attentive, refilling our waters when they were less than half empty, helpful with find dairy free options on the menu, and even gave me extra rice to take home with my leftover curry. We will be back for dinner again before we leave the city.
