The problem with this restaurant is the high expectations of having 2 stars.

We came here for the pasta tasting menu. Everything was beautiful and delicious! There were 5 courses of pasta, and an appetizer & dessert. The real sleeper here is the butter and bread that comes before the meal. The butter was amazing wow we took the rest of the butter we had home. The menu changes every month so we will try to come back!

Two Michelin stars. Indeed, Al Coro is well worth a detour. Outstanding cuisine, and excellent, expert service in a beautiful, dark, and romantic setting – formerly Del Posto. The menu focuses on modern updates of classic Italian cuisine. The highlight are the pasta dishes and bread. The team is incredibly accommodating of gluten allergies to the point of making a gluten free version of any pasta dish. A perfect meal.

Michelin 2 stars Italian. Went on Sunday dinner. Because we are 5 person so we have to order tasting menu. We ordered 7 courses tasting menu. The ambience of the restaurant is too dark and I cannot even see clearly what I am eating. Not too impressive for the courses and dessert is very soso. Not recommended.

Service was really good but multiple courses came out very salty or just not very enjoyable. Flavors didn’t feel very balanced unfortunately, and in some cases the wine pairings really just served to balance the food (make it not taste so salty or fatty) as opposed to complement it.

Enjoyed the experience! Food was great, with a few dishes that were exceptional. The mackerel was sensational, with subtle, delicate, and amazingly balanced flavors that were refreshing and very memorable. And our server might have been the single best I’ve interacted with. He was sommelier and server rolled into one, and he knew every detail of the preparation and ingredients. There were some kinks to the service overall, as it was a relatively new restaurant. I wish they had provided us with the a la carte menu along with the tasting menu. That would have sped up the ordering process, as it took a while to order. The people delivering the dishes got the match between person who orders and dish wrong, but our server was quick to correct. I enjoyed the live music, and it added to the atmosphere without being intrusive. Overall a great experience.

I really enjoyed the dinner here and did not find the dishes overly salty as some reviewers had experienced in the past. For reference I have been to many NYC one star restaurants and all of those with two and three stars, so I have a decent basis for comparison.

This is literally my first review ever written, but as a long time foodie, and past server, I need to warn you. One review says this restaurant’s problem is the expectation associated with 2 Michelin stars, and I couldn’t agree more. The food was fine, a fairly uninteresting amuse buche, bread sticks, (ala spaghetti warehouse) a nice caviar spoon, a very nice gazpacho, poured over mellon and ceviche, some really good bread and butter. On to the pasta dish which was also lovely, and then a very milktoast entree I had lamb, and my partner had the Branzino, all this was fine, but just not good enough, no wow factor, the first waiter was competent, and the wine team associate was actually pretty good, knowledgeable of the wines, and of Italy. But 2 stars I just don’t get it. There was no band, which was promised, and the 3 course offering from the website was conspicuously unprinted on the menu. The whole experience by the end was honestly something I could have had in any city America, except the price tag was definitively New York, the 5 course, with 6 glasses of wine between 2 people, and tip almost 900$ which just seemed ridiculous. You don’t want to leave a restaurant feeling swindled, and in this case I definitely did.
