I recently found myself in a bit of a culinary predicament near Grand Central Station one evening around 9 pm. Most restaurants had already closed their doors, but luckily, I stumbled upon Joy Curry and Tandoor, and it turned out to be a delightful discovery.

Located at the centre of the city, this restaurant serves awesome Indian food both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. They have a lot of combo options which you can pick from and have a great dining space in both floors. The prices are okay.

Authentic south Asian (Bangladeshi) food. I tried rice with lamb and rice with fish. Food was fresh and tasty. Nice, cozy.

I rarely write reviews but I’ve been going here since I was a teen as my neighborhood go-to. It’s delicious, fast and affordable and I’m so grateful and happy to see a place like this thrive in midtown amongst all of the chain and overpriced new restaurants/lunch spots. It really warms my heart every time I eat from here.

Ate here every week from 2015-2018. Came back to NYC for holiday and the chicken vindaloo and palaak paneer is still as good as ever! The guy even remembered my family!

A friend took me here over a decade ago and I’ve been returning ever since, through three different jobs in the general vicinity. It is a laid back non-fancy place. You go up to the counter and pick your dishes. A lot of folks get it to go but they have both downstairs and upstairs seating. My go-to dish is the Chicken Korma over rice w/any of several pretty typical vegetarian sides. I’ve wanted to learn to make this sauce—have bought a couple of jars quote ‘korma’ sauce from specialty stores but it never tastes the same or as good as what I get at Joy.
