Our Chief Chef, Santi, comes to La Casa del Cocinero from the small town of Tala in Guadalajara, Mexico, where the roots of his passion for cooking first took hold. As a boy, Santi began cooking at his parent’s side. During his teens, Santi helped his mother prepare and sell traditional meals from their home. Together, they made delicious tamales, tacos, and Guadalajara’s famous Carne En Su Jugo. As he grew older, Santi worked alongside his father in his seafood restaurants, gaining the experience that would form the foundation of many of the fabulous meals he now prepares for you, our customers. All dishes are made to order and, while it might take a little longer, trust us when we say, it’s worth the wait.

We have loved this place since their old Whittier location. The food is always great and so is the service. Blanca, the waitress we always request is very attentive. The best part of this place is the salsa. Most Mexican restaurants fail in having good salsa and this place has 2 delicious salsas. I highly recommend this place.

Food was so/so….albóndiga soup tasted like it was made the day before because the meatballs didn’t taste fresh, tortilla soup was ok. The happy hour tacos de asada, mulitas de asada, taquitos de pollo were ok. Everything could have been made with more soul if you know what I mean. Beans kinda tasted like rosarito canned beans mixed with Peruvian beans. Up in the air if I’ll be coming back.

This is a restaurant we recently visited. The food is delicious, the service exceptional and the atmosphere very welcoming. Our waitress Mireya is the best we’ve encountered in a while! She is very attentive, professional and very nice. I recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves Mexican food.

Good service. Portions are just right. Food is typical home style mexican cuisine. Seating is a bit limited but I actually believe it helps the overall atmosphere as it creates a cool vibe and liveliness.

First time going here and the food was pretty good. We tried the chicken taquitos, shrimp tostada, and asada nachos. For drinks we tried a mango lemonade, a michelada with pacifico beer, and a mix drink called El Gauche that had a bad after taste. The other 2 drinks were good and so was the food.

Asada and chicken in the molcajete were perfectly cut and cooked, but chorizo and cheese were completely melted and mixed at bottom. Food was served quickly, but requests for additional items took too long. Nice large open bar, but drinks need improvement.
