On a pretty quiet Monday night, we shared the platter choosing brisket, ribs, and catfish as our 3 choices of meat. All were very good. The cob of corn and pickled cauliflower were just average. The potato wedges were very good. The toast was bland and unnecessary. We would have preferred if the main dishes would have been served slightly warmer. Before the main course, we shared the lightly smoked watermelon salad, and it was delicious. When I made the reservation, I mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary. The host who took my call and greeted us at the door didn’t mention it when we arrived, nor did he pass it on to our server. Not a big deal but one of the small things that might be improved. Great setting! Beautiful views. All in all, a nice anniversary dinner. We will return and will expect to see some improvements.

I’ll start with saying that this was the first place since moving to the area in January from Milwaukee that I was excited to try for dinner. My wife and I really enjoy Justin Sutherland’s shows, his cook book and the twin cities spots we have dined at before. Thus, when asked what we should do for dinner on Friday night, we both agreed to go to Northern Soul no questions asked.

Service was great, views from the patio were awesome. We had shrimp cocktail and chicken wing appetizers. The chicken was pretty dry but flavorful and the shrimp was mediocre. Our dinners were the soul burger and brisket overall I would say average and not spectacular. I don’t think our meals were brought out right when they were prepared. I felt the presentation wasn’t what we expected from the hype of the restaurant. I would go back because of the atmosphere but not because of the food.

Had dinner tonight having higher expectations with what’s his face Sutherland’s stamp. Fairly quiet for the most part in dining area. Drink menu-meh. Food-meh. View was nice watching old people suck at of golf. Wife ordered salad with shrimp. I ordered ribs. Ribs honestly looked ill. Sauce on side was ok. Potatoes semi cooked. Toast was uneventful. Soggy ish corn on cob. Pigmento cheese with ritz crackers, I mean come on?…O guess I ordered it. Again, I am being generous giving a 2 star. Go to Applebees and be wow’d after this visit. Add this to the Grand View collection of dining disappointments.

We almost never go out to eat when visiting a family cabin in Nisswa, but when a neighbor shared there was a new BBQ restaurant nearby, we wanted to check it out.

It’s not very good and expensive for what you get.

Had high expectations and was dissapointed. Hush puppies were good but I did not taste or see the shrimp. I had the smashburger and it was dry including the bun. Potato wedges were overcooked. Husband had brisket sandwich and there was little meat for the big price. Won’t go back

The reviews here are a hodge podge of the Preserve Golf Course, with some from years ago. Northern Soul has only been open a few weeks. The BBQ was pretty good our table had both brisket & ribs. The server was new and apologetic. It is a new place & you should be prepared to cut them some slack as a result. We’ll be back.

Grand view is going to screw up the opportunity to work with JS who is a star chef. Seems odd that they wouldn’t showcase him and his food at the main resort. The restaurant is a golf course club house, it’s not particularly scenic and not easy to get to. The staff was very nice and very new. Signature cocktails were premade batch pours. Food was good, but I wouldn’t make an effort to go back.
