Poogan’s Porch was absolutely amazing! I made a reservation two days before as I was bringing my dog and wanted to make sure we were able to get outdoor seating. When we arrived we were seated right away on the patio in the back on the first floor and there was a water bowl already waiting. Our waitress Keri, filled up the water bowl right away for my dog which I very much appreciated. Keri was very sweet and accommodating to not only me but my dog as well. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and they were absolutely phenomenal! The bacon jam and pimento cheese sauce that it comes with on the side was a perfect pairing! The shrimp and grits are incredible. The portion size was a bit big for me so I did not finish it but did take it to go. I also ordered one of the mock-tails on the menu which was delicious! I would highly recommend both dishes when you go there. It was a hot sunny day but the patio where we were was covered and there was a fan outside which helped a lot. I will definitely be back next time in Charleston!

Loved the fried green tomatoes, those are a must. Got to try she crab soup and a traditional shrimp and grits. They also served biscuits to dip in our soup which we really liked! I will say the shrimp entree was so heavy and the whole dish tasted like sausage, but I’m told that’s all shrimp and grits meals. My friend took it home and loved it! Would definitely come back for the tomatoes!

You should go here if only for the Sweet Tea and Chocolate Cake. These were A++. The BBQ Mahi and Chicken Fried Pork Chop were great. Mac and Cheese was good but too cheesy for us. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Rosco was an excellent server. He explained the menu to a tee. He was attentive, friendly and made us feel like we were dining in his home. The food was delicious, the only reason we gave the food four stars is because the sauce for the salmon was too much. I think the salmon and succotash alone would’ve been divine. Oh and it’s a MUST to end your meal with their chocolate cake, it’s to die for!

Service and atmosphere was fantastic. The bartender told us the story of the sisters that lived in the house. Very interesting. The shrimp and grits looked great but not the best flavor I have had. Not horrible but wouldn’t try that next time. I would go back again though. My friend had the egg white omelet and it was great. We all had fried green tomatoes and it was the best

Great service. We came in without a reservation during a busy weekend at 730p and got a seat. The waiter was friendly, helpful, and fast. My spouse and I loved the apps, entrees and dessert. They had great southern biscuits to start, with whipped butter that had a hint of honey. I got the lavender cocktail but with gin instead of vodka and it was amazing (and that’s coming from someone who loves a good lavender beverage). We got shrimp and grits and the catch of the day (grouper). The portions were a good size, but not huge. We got the pecan pie to split for dessert. Overall everything was pretty great. The waiter made what would be a good meal – great. Definitely would come back- especially to drink 🙂

The atmosphere was great. Felt like I was stepping into a piece of history for breakfast. On the first wall you will see signed menus by well known celebrities which is always fun. The service was good but the French toast which sounded great was lackluster. I felt it needed a bit more crispness. The coffee was a bit light for my taste, but let me tell you about the fried green tomatoes, they were on point! Delicious, crispy with the perfect favors 5/5 must try.

It was a warm summer night, we were in the mood for a Charleston Staple and came to this gem. Upon entry you see a huge home with of course a big porch. Upon entry you feel like you are in a row home in DC or a old house in New Orleans. They have a small bar right behind the host stand if you are waiting for your reservation. We made one and were sat right away.

Great restaurant for authentic southern food. You should definitely try the fried green tomatoes, Mac and cheese and the she crab soup. They do have kid meals too, my daughter loves the chicken fingers. I had the grouper special and my wife had the salmon, both were cooked perfectly. If you are lucky you might have an encounter with the ghost at the restaurant, she is very active in the evening.

A wonderful experience at Poogan’s! The story behind the restaurant is sweet, and the Pecan Old Fashioned is a genius combination! I had the Brioche French Toast and my husband had chicken and waffles. Both were delicious, generous portions, and wonderfully made. The bourbon orange maple syrup was a yummy and unique touch. Our server, Cassidy, was kind, accommodating, and attentive. Can’t wait to visit again when we’re back in Charleston!
