The history of McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants began when Bill McCormick purchased Jake’s Famous Crawfish Restaurant located in Portland, Oregon, and brought the more than 100-year-old landmark back to life. When asked the secret of how he revitalized a restaurant on the brink of closing, McCormick says, I like nothing better than being a good host. Part of the managerial talent McCormick tapped was Doug Schmick, a management trainee. The two formed a partnership in 1974, creating Traditional Concepts, a precursor to today’s McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants. In 1979, they opened the original McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant in Portland, Oregon.

We had a pretty good lunch here. I had the parmesan crusted chicken with lemon pasta. The pasta came with chopped tomatoes in it which wasn’t listed on the menu. And the chicken was a little dry but still tasty. The children’s chicken fingers and fries are good. Chicken was a little dry, buy had a good coating and flavor. My wife had the the salmon saute, she said it was good. The hostess was a little absent minded, the rest of thr staff was very friendly and good.

Went on a tuesday night. Was not busy at all. The place is big and beautiful however, considering my party of 3 was one of the 4 tables in the restaurant, service was not great. Our table had leftover crumbs littered across half of the table and our waiter seemed uninterested and very bland. Took 10 minutes before our water was filled and that’s not an exaggeration. We were then asked if we would like bread at that time and that came out cold about 5 minutes later. The food came out 15 minutes after receiving the bread which was fine. The food was delicious however very pricey for the portions given. Each dish was $30 and while it tasted good, was definitely not worth $30 a plate. Definitely not interested in returning.

Had a meal a week or so ago. Became ill. Reported it to the manager. She didn’t do anything. Something not right.

Absolutely horrible, worst Easter dining experience ever. I’d give a negative 5 stars if I could. We visited here on Easter due to Cheesecake having an hour wait. We walked in and couldn’t understand why this place was empty. Well we were soon destined to find out. Long story short – my wife’s food had a curly dark hair smack right on her Mahi Mahi fish. My salmon came out way under cooked. If I wanted sushi I would have ordered it. So basically the manager agreed to replace the food, but to our dissatisfaction our table was already done eating and had dessert. And who knows what happens when you send food back, so we barely touched the food the 2nd time. Honestly I don’t know how this place will stay profitable. The food portion is too small for the price, to the customer service wasn’t too good, and after dining here both my wife and I left hungry. Oh yeah the bill was $150 we with the tip. Wasn’t about to punish the waitress on Easter, but never again!!! Hopefully if you read this review you will avoid the hassle and expensive dinner.

1 star for service, 3 for food, 1 for prices. Went here on a Friday night. The place was pretty empty for the size, maybe 15 tables out of 50, but it seemed grossly understaffed. The waitress took 15 min to return with fountain drinks, which by the way cost $4 each! Everything on the menu is overpriced although that is expected for the area but not excusable. The food was good, no problems there, but hard to enjoy after waiting another 30 min for the order to come out. To get the check we had to flag down a manager who happened to be delivering the checks to a few other tables in our area due to lack of service. The waitress was friendly, there just wasn’t enough staff on hand to handle the few tables that were there.

My friend and I had a terrible experience at this restaurant tonight. (The one in Bridgewater, NJ). Our food was poorly prepared. My burger was overcooked, our vegetables were undercooked, and my friend’s dish came with the wrong side order.

Food was ok, but service is horrible. When I came here three times in a row, my order was messed up in some way. I wanted my steak to be medium well, and it was served rare. One of my guests’ appetizer came with the main course without her requesting that, and when we pointed that out to our waiter, he got snappy with us and did not claim responsibility for the mistake. The third and final time I came here, my first two choices were not available, so I ordered steak medium well, and it was once again served rare! Never going here again.

Decided to try this place for lunch. So glad I did pretty happy about it. Sat at the bar, and got myself a burger with fries, and a whiskey with ginger ale. How ever they seasoned the burger just wow. The fries were nice crispy, and again the seasoning. Finally they don’t water down their drinks which is much appreciated. Great lunch overall.

I took my wife here for our 12th year anniversary. It was an excellent experience. The food was amazing and our server was great. The Clam Chowder was the best I’ve ever had, and I always order clam chowder, so that’s saying a lot. Our entrees were also top notch. We didn’t realize they came with sides so we ordered a side of Potatoes Au Gratin to share and boy were we glad we made that mistake. I will come here instead of The Capital Grille anytime first visit, but certainly not the last.
