This place is so charming. It really has an authentic feel, probably because it is a historic building. The people were wonderful the only thing was the food was very hit and miss for me. The Brussels sprouts were actually freaking AMAZING I could have just had bowls of this and been happy and gave this place 5 stars but I also had the chicken pot pie, which is actually deconstructed version. With the soul in a bowl and a flaky pastry sitting on top and the pot pie middle was so bland you needed the buttery pastry to give it flavor but there wasn’t enough pastry. The sticky toffee pudding was very stodgy. The flavors were there but the cake was dry and hard and not pudding texture at all.

Great meal in a unique atmosphere, our group of 4 had the BLT (2), fish & chips, and lobster salad. We also had peach sorbet served in a frozen peach, and an individual bundt cake with custard for dessert. The service was excellent, and will definitely stop back when we are in the area.

Food was excellently cooked and good proportions. However, the cut of NYStrip was not 30%, which was gristle and fat. It was cooked perfectly, I don’t want to take away from that.

Super cute ambiance, but food was just OK, nothing that had us excited for more. Service was great, and they seem to have a solid following, as it was full on a Tuesday night. Luckily we got there early enough that we didn’t have to wait for a table as a walk in guest. Also, we thought we were there for trivia but they didn’t play, so another thing I was kinda disappointed about. Doubt we will go back, but glad we gave it a try. Would recommend if you go to make a reservation.

The patio feels like a country pub in southern England, and the food is what I’d expect from a destination gastro-pub. The shepherd’s pie – “cottage pie” is likely a step too far toward authenticity – was very good and the fish & chips tasty. Don’t miss the mushy peas: they’re superior to most I’ve had. They used to have at least one English ale on draft but didn’t see any this time. Worth a stop if you’re in the area.

18th century style dining inside with covered tables available outside when the weather is appropriate. French fries were freshly cut and tasty along with the sandwich. Also had the stew which was hearty but, not oversized and just right. Good selection of soft drinks and beers. Service was attentive and not overbearing. Only sore spot was the artichoke dip appetizer. Way too much cheese added making it more like a cheese dip. Chips that came along were also stale. Overall, a nice lunch in a historic setting and pleasant little town.

Nice seating area outside with umbrellas, nice brick patio and live plant/hedge fence makes it feel cozy. Service was excellent and super friendly. Bread/butter that came with the meal was heavenly, crispy crust soft flavorful inside.

Delicious food. Great outdoor garden seating. Our table’s favorite was the French dip sandwich. We also enjoyed cod and chips — delicious batter on the fish and house-made fries. Strawberry summer salad with lemon poppyseed dressing made eating salad quite enjoyable, too!

As an Englishman I was interested to see if the claims and name “Tavern” were justified. More of a restaurant than tavern or pub due to heavy emphasis on food and tables. But the closest thing to a “Pub” that I have seen in the USA so far. Be aware that the English use the pub to drink and socialize more than the American culture ( in my opinion ). Who tend to use for food with friends.
