I wanted to check out Ansanm after watching Chef Viaud on Top Chef. I’ve never had Haitian food before so I was eager to see what it was like. I had the shredded chicken tacos which were delicious and full of flavor. The picliz added that extra zestiness with a kick of spice. To drink I had the mango lime juice. It was the perfect compliment to the spicy tacos. My husband had the chicken in creole sauce which came with fried plantains (yum) and mushroom rice. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Very casual spot. Will definitely be back.

While visiting the area, we decided to check out Ansanm because a semi-finalist from Top Chef owns it, and also because we’ve never tried Haitian food before! The sandwiches were DELISH – everyone from our group was obsessed with the fried chicken sandwich and V.O. Griot sandwich. So flavorful!! The chicken pate for a side was also a highlight for us. So cool to experience a bit of Haitian culture!

Tried this restaurant today after having a couple beers at the adjacent brewery. The chicken sandwich was seriously magical. It had a wonderful toasted bun, lightly spiced chicken thigh, delicious mixed pickled veggies, and a creamy avocado cilantro sauce. Doesn’t get much better. The creole chicken was delicious as well, and we also had the mango lime juice and beef pate. Everything was wonderful. Service was friendly and fast as well. Highly recommended!

Finally checked out chef Chris’ new spot at Ansamn and it was incredible. Trying new cuisines can sometimes feel intimidating but the menu is approachable and easy to pick from. I went the ‘safe’ route and got the fried chicken sandwich and it was so good! The amount of flavor packed into one sandwich was crave worthy. I was so surprised by the freshness and the layers of flavors and textural components to the sandwich. I do wish that it came with a side of some sorts for the price point. We ordered a side of fried green plantains to try and they were also great. Definitely give this place a try, I can’t wait to go back!

I drive an 1 hr 15 mins to try this food and I’m going to do it over and over again. The Creole Chicken and Pork Griot were so delicious, both clearly family recipes that have been perfected over years. The fried chicken sandwich was a star, sincerely one of the best I’ve ever had. My son loved the beef and chicken pâté pastries so much that he said he would have eaten 16 of them. I loved everything about this visit.

I really like this place. It feels authentic, but most importantly, the food is great. The beef pate was the highlight for me. Melt in your mouth pastry.

This place has amazing food. We were a group of 6 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed what they ordered! The wait staff is very nice! Dining in kind of feels like a diner. I love the old dinners in New Jersey, so not a problem for me. I can’t wait to try more dishes here!

Tried this place for the first time today, got chickpea curry with rice, fried plantains, and mango juice. AMAZING. The food is so tasty and the perfect amount to feel full without being too much, plus $22 with a small tip wasn’t bad at all. I’ve never had Haitian food before so I can’t compare to anything else but definitely come in and give it a go! I can’t wait to try everything on the menu And if you’ve never had fried plantains before, do yourself a favor and get them next time you’re in the oval.

A cute little counter service Haitian place right off the Oval. I had the chicken in creole and it was delicious! The rice was good, and the fried plantains were a good mix of salty and sweet. My lady’s chickpea curry was equally delicious.
