In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. I celebrated my Birthday with my Family. First of all, our server Patty made the whole experience awesome. Her patience and knowledge was exceptional. The Restaurant was clean, and the workers were friendly. Now for the good part..The food was awesome. It came out hot, and the portions were huge. Everything tasted good. We had a party of ten and not one person had any complaints. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. Great job Black Bear!! We will be back!

Walked in and told them one and was told it would be 40-50 minutes! Was only 20 minutes thank goodness! I don’t know if it was just a fluke however it seemed that the picked and chooses who they said happy Father’s Day to! My server was good my only problem with her even though I only ordered water she never asked me if I wanted a refill! I got the the 2 egg combo with mild sausage , potatoes and toast! Then I got a side of loaded grits! The food was good over all the eggs was scrambled soft with cheese they used liquid eggs you have to request real eggs I found out- the potatoes was seasoned really well just needed to be cooked about 5 minutes or so longer-the sausage was really good nice season and nice size patties-them grits on point they came loaded with cheese and bacon they was nice and creamy just like I like them just had to ask for more cheese because I personally love a lot of cheese!

I got there a little early waiting for the group to enjoy the place. Our waitress was a woman named Roberta. She was the best, even when it was short staffed. I ordered the Chicken ‘N Waffles with Fries. Fries were okay, but the Chicken ‘N Waffles were the best. Waffle was soft and a little crunchy and the tenders were crispy. Definitely a must. Love the design on the waffle of a bear claw.

Was so anticipating an awesome meal! Chalkboard at entry said HUGE servings..place matt said made to order so worth the wait…tiny patty melt bread was glued to meat, no onions “HUGE” side order of onion rings was a whopping…5…the $7 “HUGE” bowl of chili wasn’t warm enough to melt the cheese and a little over half full…the food sat ready to serve for over 15 minutes and needles to say the food was barely warm..the cashier took $10 off the bill since we mentioned we watched the food sit so long and was barely warm

This is my son’s birthday breakfast spot every year since we moved to St. Charles. We go there more than just his birthday, but it’s the tradition now. We love their food, their friendly service and love the variety of food served. I’m not a breakfast food person, so I always get the Cobb salad, even at 9 am! The portions are large so I always take some home for a snack later! We bring out of town guests here because there truly is something for everyone. Try the Huckleberry lemonade – it’s yummy!

The table had a pice of food on it before I ordered, the cup I got water in had food stick in it, both sides of the booth seats were sticky, and the glass above the seat look like a child was rubbing all over it. Mind you I actually go to buttery off Grand so that was a bit much.

First visit to this restaurant. Our family had meatloaf, kid’s meal pizza, kid’s meal fettuccine and an adult fish and chips. Meatloaf was average and nothing to write home about. Kids enjoyed their meals and the ice cream that comes with their meals. The fish and chips was a huge disappointment. I cannot recall ever having such poor quality fish. It was very tough fish. I wouldn’t recommend it.
