We had a nice dinner on the patio. The duck nachos were good, but not the best we’ve had. Portions were big and an appetizer and entree for two people would be enough. The old fashioned was good, but the blue tequila cocktail was better. The sangria was also good – heavy on the red wine.

My wife and I decided to give Blacks a try for our anniversary, as its easier to justify the price for a special occasion. A must-try dish at Black’s Bar & Kitchen in Bethesda, MD is their incredible Pan-seared Day Boat Scallops! These beauties are served with a mouthwatering Crawfish-Thyme Beurre Blanc sauce that’ll have your taste buds doing a happy dance. The scallops are paired with a side of Rainbow Chard, adding a burst of vibrant colors and flavors, and the Garlic Whipped Potatoes that are pure creamy perfection. The scallops themselves are a masterpiece – seared to a golden brown and bursting with texture and flavor. Highly recommend this sensational dish, you won’t be disappointed!

On the fine dining side, this restaurant did not disappoint. Everything was pretty tasty and the wait staff stayed attentive throughout the evening. We opted to sit outside which had a nice fountain-like display.

Hostess wanted to argue about adding a chair to our table of six. Bartender basically said he wouldn’t take our drink order but we should go sit down and wait to be served. Waitress was actually great. Unfortunately not sure I’ll return to Black’s after this. Better to go to the New Marriott across the street where people are nice, prepared for the public and go out of their way to please.

Came here for a department holiday party. The food was good and straightforward, but the service wasn’t too good. Many enjoyed their dishes. I had the Caeser salad with chicken and the mushroom soup and house red wine. The wine was good, but the soup portion was quite small, as was the salad. It was the pick three selection. They did overcook one dish, but they were likely rushed. The bread was tasty and the mussels we’re good. Definitely beware that you need to clearly specify how you want your food cooked (medium vs well done) and if you want your food spicy. They over cooked or under cooked a few dishes or added too much spice.
