At our Milton, FL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.
Fast-food chain serving fried fish & shrimp combo meals along with gumbo & funnel cakes. Based on 748 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 3.8 stars. Price $

Good food. I love me some Captain D’s, but this place needs to be inspected and shut down IMMEDIATELY.

All I can say is that the employees were great food was good but the price is way too high!! I couldn’t believe it cost $30 plus for two people to eat?? Your side orders are nothing to be happy about because you don’t get enough 4 $3.98, which is ridiculous!! This is the first time in a long time that I’ve went to Captain D’s and I was not impressed at all!! A person could use to eat for $10 or less at a Captain D’s and on Sundays it was all you can eat fish and fries . I’ll tell you the problem it’s called “GREED”. Because of my experience “I’m through with your establishment!!

Young lady greeter was very rude – Absolute terrible customer service. She did not greet me, she passed by me behind the counter without even looking at me or asking to help me, I had to ask her for help. Terrible.

Our food was not cooked long enough. We each had fried fish, french fries and hush puppies. The fries tasted like the grease was old and they were cool, not hot at all. The fish was not cooked fully and the hush puppies were actually doughy inside. It was lunchtime and busy and should be expected that time of the day. Possibly not enough staff to cover getting orders out. The counter staff was very friendly and helpful with us placing the order. Just food not up to par on this visit.

You know what you’re getting, if you have realistic expectations. You won’t be surprised or disappointed, if draw inside of the lines. This isn’t gourmet seafood and you shouldn’t expect that. But it’s fine, for the venue and the price. The people are nice and efficient, the food is good enough, for the price. People often compare Captain D’s to Red Lobster, which is thoroughly stupid. Both places aren’t actual seafood restaurants…they are fast food. We live in the best place on earth for seafood and if you kvetch about the food here or at Red Lobster, you are mentally defective. Go to an actual seafood restaurant and get over your biases.

The fish, pollack, per server, was hot but tasted awful! Couldn’t eat, even with malt vinegar, salt, and pepper seasoning!! Cole slaw was not very good, in my opinion. Course, this may be a northern taste. Hush puppies were oil laden and mushy. Not good!!

The ceiling leaks on the tables and counter. Food was ok, nothing great. Oysters were so small was just breading. Cashier acted as though she didn’t want to be there . Baked potato was cold. Won’t go back.

After being in Florida for over a year I was very hungry for a Wisconsin fish fry. Captain D’s seem to get fairly decent reviews so I thought I would give it a try. I thought it was a restaurant, which it’s not. It’s kind of a fast food seafood place. You can eat inside, but their dining room is about 1/3 of the size of Arby’s. It seems like most people get stuff to go. I ordered two pieces of fish, six butterfly shrimp, french fries and coleslaw. The french fries needed another three minutes or so in the oil; but the oil obviously wasn’t on the right temperature when they put them in because they were just saturated with grease. Couldn’t eat them. The fish fillets were interesting. The fish was cooked and I liked the taste of the breading/batter; but it was soft, not crispy; and that also was very greasy. The coleslaw that I thought was gonna be my biggest hit of the day, didn’t have enough sauce on it and it was WARM! I’ve never been served warm coleslaw before and I have to say I’m not a fan of it. The six butterflied shrimp were definitely the high point of my meal. They were the perfect color, breading was nice and crispy, and the shrimp had a good taste. I was thoroughly thrilled with the butterfly shrimp so next time if I go back… which I probably will because I’m not gonna base everything on one meal. That’s not fair. If I go back I’m going to get butterfly shrimp and see what they can do with clam strips. I love clam strips so I’ll give that a try .

Drab, moldy, and the food is disgusting. Good thing I live on the Emerald Coast. I will just have fresh shrimp and fish compared to Captain D’s stomped shrimp and freezer burned fish. The only food I like from there is their corn on the cob and fried cheese sticks.
