10 out of 10, would definitely recommend. Venison, Lamb Shank, bison, short rib… don’t matter. The presentation is immaculate, the service is impeccable, the ambiance is outstanding, it’s a Mike Tyson uppercut punch of an experience. After a long day of travel, they served us as a somewhat late walk in. Treated us like royalty, and we intended to quickly eat & leave so the staff didn’t have to stay late. Unfortunately, the food was so good we had to savor every bite. They were so friendly, they chatted with us about fishing, travel, etc. as we were trying to let them close up. Exceeded all expectations, will be back soon!

Wonderful gem. The black bean hummus was fabulous. And the jalapeño poppers were fantastic. Nice to have some gluten free options for appetizers. The courtyard is lovely and the vibe indoors is very nice as well. Staff were all attentive and welcoming.

I am so happy I came to Salado restaurant for happy hour. It had 3 vegitarian options and an amazing prickly pear margaritas. I really enjoyed the Wisconsin cheese curds and black bean humus as well. The wait staff was excellent also. Such a gem. There were several vegitarian salads and one main course that was a vegitarian option, which as a vegitarian is important to have a choice or more to eat.

My boyfriend and I ate here for my birthday and it was amazing! We started off with the cactus fries, the sauces served with it were great. I had the rib-eye special with sweet potatoes, asparagus, and steak diane sauce. My boyfriend had the short rib with espresso sauce. It was amazing, again the sauce was fantastic for both dishes. Robin was an amazing server! We were the only people in there and they really made us feel comfortable, playing our preferred music and making nice conversation. I would definitely being returning.

First time here, visited on a Sunday afternoon around 5pm. As the voice recording says when you call, reservations are strongly recommended as they are not at full staff. It was pretty busy and I’m glad we called the day before. We got the cheese curds out first and they were awesome! Steaks were ordered for the main course and were ok but nothing over the top. For dessert we ordered the fried chimichanga filled with fruit – very tasty and it didn’t last long 🙂 Yes, you should check this place out if you’re in the area. We’ll likely be back but will check out others restaurants around the area first. Knocking off 1 star for the steaks and general high prices.

As a local I’ve dined in at Salado many times and it is usually five stars. Although, when I got takeout for the first time this is what I received for my $32 short rib entree. Could not be more disappointed.

Terrific place! Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great food, and a maple/cardamom old fashioned that was outstanding. There also was an ongoing tale of some recently fledged baby robins from a nearby nest that was fascinating for my bird-watching wife. All-around excellent experience.

It’s hard to find anything to be critical about regarding this spectacular restaurant. I’ve now been twice and both times the service has been excellent. Really great staff who are knowledgeable about the unique menu. The menu has some fantastic and unique ingredients cooked the right way. The cactus, in every form, is spot on. Caesar chipotle dressing and the polenta croutons were a standout on the salad menu. First night, I had the buffalo flank steak, cooked perfectly, and then the second night I had the best NY strip I’ve had … anywhere. This crew knows how to cook and how to treat customers. You can tell there is a lot of pride and passion behind this place. I’m in Fairplay often and will be back here every time.

Salado had an amazing selection. We were early enough for happy hour, so we got 2 of the $7 appetizers. We tried both the cactus fries and the jalapeno poppers. They were both really good, but the jalapeno poppers were our clear favorite. They were a little spicy with salty and sweet. For dinner, I got the roasted poblano, and my husband got the trout. Of course, we sampled each other’s dishes, and they complemented each other really well. We finished off the meal with dessert. We enjoyed dinner so much that we returned for dinner the next night for more jalapeno poppers and to try the salads.
