My recent visit to Big Water Grill Restaurant left much to be desired, and I feel compelled to share my negative encounter to caution others.

While the Big Water Grille still boasts an excellent location and tasteful decor, the overall experience has gone downhill quite a bit over the last few years. There just isn’t the attention to detail one would expect from a restaurant with $50 entrees, $18 cocktails, $30 appetizers, and a $28 burger. We waited fifteen minutes from the time we were seated until we were greeted by our server, and – when she did come to our table – had no enthusiasm, was not helpful, and was quick to leave. The food was a mixed bag. The fried cauliflower appetizer, halibut, and flourless chocolate torte were delicious, but the fish and chips were just plain bad. A place that charges so much should be able to serve fries that taste better than the ones you buy in the freezer section at Grocery Outlet.

Service was understaffed, steak overcooked, sent it back. Quite expensive. Cocktails were average. Didn’t like the meatball appetizer at all. The Korean Fried Cauliflower was great though. Risotto was tasty but not worth a $44 price tag. Overall just missing some appeal given we spent $100 pp on dinner.

12/10 highly recommend the elk. I was a little nervous to try it thinking it might be gamey but not at all. I can’t stop thinking about that dish and that was like 2 months ago

Really great! Service was excellent. Food was delicious. There was music, but it wasn’t too loud, which I always appreciate! We had the Alaskan Halibut in a coconut sauce and the Salmon with wild mushrooms for dinner. Aps, we had the seafood something that was in this yogurt sauce. So good! What a great date night! The pictures are of our food and a cheesecake to go for the kids. And the view from the balcony.

Food is fairly good, some dishes stood out a lot more than others. Atmosphere can be described as relaxed upscale. Went there at night so unfortunately could not see the views however hear they are great.

We have had the best meals here. Had our wedding party here 9 years ago and it was the perfect place. Looking forward to our next trip. Thank you all!

Really bad food. Like, trying to be high end but clueless. I got a $65 new york steak (no other steak options) and I swear it was covered in KC Masterpiece bbq sauce. The peach salad was soggy and flavorless. I guess I paid for the ambiance…outdated 80s decor with a decent view.

We very much enjoyed our dinner. The Korean cauliflower was fabulous as was the pork chop. Actually the pork ‘chop’ was more like a pork loin. I’ve got enough left for a couple more meals. Fabulous. Loved the views of the forest with some view of the lake.

Nice place in Tahoe. Definitely in the higher price range so expectations are high.
