Great food, fresh ingredients, simply prepared…any more than that and things get complicated. Tricky Fish, the idea for it anyway, was born along Chinquapin Reef in East Matagorda Bay. And on the water off Port A and near the barrier islands south of Cocodrie, LA. Days spent on the water and evenings spent with good friends, a cold beer and amazing food. Eating out should be a break from the real world. It should be fun, relaxing, a chance to get away from all the things that make our lives… well, complicated. A good meal, spending time with family and friends, trying a local craft beer or glass of wine on the patio – that’s what Tricky Fish is all about.

I’ve always heard good things about this restaurant and people have recommended it multiple times. The presentation of the food was the best thing about this place it all looked so good but it’s sad to say that wasn’t the result we ordered the catfish and shrimp platter was so stoked when it came out but the shrimp ended up tasting kind of rubbery IMO as well as the catfish just wasn’t the best especially for the price of the food , I’d say if the food was a bit cheaper then it probably give it a 3 star. My favorite thing we had was the appetizer blue cheese and chips it was good but the price again didn’t seem to match the amount/quality of food but again the presentation they look super delicious and mouth watering, my girls favorite dish their was the coleslaw she said it was delicious but I’m not a big Cole slaw person so I’ll have to agree w her on it. The atmosphere of the place was not good we were there about an hour and we did not see one single employee smile everyone their seemed to not enjoy their job from the hostess, bar , waiters and the staff handling the food. I’m not saying I will not give this another go in the future but as of right now I’d just rate it a 2 star overall if we base it off the presentation itself of the food I’d give it a 4. Definitely try it out and make your own opinion I can’t speak for everyone as well as people do have off/bad days and maybe this was just one here.

This place is absolutely amazing. My wife and I with our 15th month old went here for dinner and we had Peter for our server. Probably some of the best service we’ve had as a family especially at a seafood restaurant in Fort Worth. The food was absolutely fantastic and very well priced. Plus they have an amazing Firemans four light on draft which is pretty hard to find. Highly recommend coming here for a family date night or even some cocktails. Also, the seafood is pretty amazing for being in the panhandle of Texas.

The Young man’s Edwin hospitality is the best opening up the door for customers is a plus for me. You don’t get that type of service at many restaurants and Jack the server was the best I’ve had y’all have great food and fast service. This will be my go to on occasion. I’m just lost for words on how marvelous the service is!!!!!!

We had been looking for seafood and my wife found Tricky Fish. The food was wonderful. The peel and eat shrimp were huge. Darn near could make a meal out of them. You select the type of seafood you want and then there is a choice six main sides. My wife choose shrimp on ouzo. I had a special blackened grouper with a carrots and fried potatoes. The drinks were great. Dessert had to have the French Toast Sundae. It was great.

Love Tricky Fish!! The appetizer of the fried green tomatoes with the shrimp on top, delicious. I do love the crab cakes. Not the best I’ve ever had, but still have reordered them. Not much seafood in Fort Worth or what there is is super expensive. Tricky Fish is the perfect balance! We love it and will continue to return for more! Staff has always been friendly too 🙂

Good food and good service. There are great options on the menu. The red fish was terrific, as was the macaroni and cheese. My entire party enjoyed their food. The old fashioned was very tasty. Can’t wait to try the desserts next time.

It was OK, nothing I’d go out of my way to come back and try again. I sat at the bar. It was a very busy place and service was definitely sub par. I got calamari and the fish and chips. Calamari was OK as well as the fish. Very large portion size. Over carbonated beer it was awful…. watching the couple next to me get served was pretty amazing that couple of guys was less then impressed to say the least

Very nice place to grab some quality seafood. We stopped in for brunch. There was about a 15 minute wait so we decided to sit at the bar.

What a nice place. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff are wonderful. My friend took me here to grab a bite and let me tell you, I was very pleased. Michael, our waiter, was awesome! He was attentive and offered options he felt were great! I can’t remember the bartender’s name, but she knew my friend’s drink order by heart, which let’s me know my friend is a regular . She, too, was very attentive paying attention to drink levels and being ready to take another order when she was ready. We ordered the calamari, chips and queso, and the Grilled Thai wings with ginger peanut slaw, which was the WINNER of the night! I ordered my husband the fish and chips to go, and although I lived 45 minutes away, a pop into the air fryer revived the meal back to its original state, and he enjoyed it.
