This may be my absolute new favorite restaurant in Frederick. The food is exquisite. The French cafe feel is utterly charming. I had the New Zealand Venison Tenderloin (a special), with a VSOP French Brandy Cream Sauce & Parsley Potatoes. I could have eaten two servings. The owners are delightful, their story is darling. The history of the building, the bar, the furniture, the art… Well, you will have to visit and learn for yourself!

Great atmosphere – very classy. Reminded me of Paris. All the food was wonderful and beautifully presented. We came for brunch. Espresso coffee, not drip, but I think refills were included. No kids entrees but my 4 year old son loved his French toast. Fresh flowers were a nice touch. We liked reading about the history. Good date spot – a little pricey. A 3rd server arrived, which really helped.

Seared scallops are the best. The color and the texture are perfect. Highly recommend. I love the mushroom soup. I suspected a small piece of paper in my salad and called the waitress to show it to her. She used a fork to take the thing to a small plate and walked away. She said it looks like a piece white lettuce. This was very confusing practice. If it is a piece white lettuce why she took away. If it is a piece of paper she should apologize. She thought that I couldn’t recognize the texture between paper and lettuce. So funny. Come on, I did so many reviews for restaurants.

A fantastic dinner in a bistro-style setting with attentive and warm staff – what more could you ask for? How about a visit with one of the owners who told us in detail about the food and history of the building – what a great experience! The food was lovingly prepared with top-shelf ingredients; additionally, listen to your server’s recommendations, they know the food… We highly recommend visiting – every detail was special and well thought out!

Francis the owner is a great gentleman, with excellent service and quality food. The Euro aesthetic of the restaurant makes you feel you’re dining in the heart of Paris. Was very impressed with the variety of delicious dishes on the menu, as I a hard time deciding between the variety of fish and meat on the menu.

Had an excellent experience here. The atmosphere and people were delightful. The special I ordered was over the top. The smell and taste simply took me to another world. I ordered the quail and it was prepared to perfection. Got to talk to the owner/chef for hours there. Very nice person along with her husband. Will return again.

Up on Market gets 2 stars and those are for the food. I was looking forward to taking a special guest here for a special experience. We were greeted by the harried owner and then he spent 20 minutes engaging my guest about the history of the place and pretty much everything on the menu. The history is detailed nicely on the menu itself. That might not have been too bad, but he was the only one waiting tables and the establishment was pretty full. He moved on and a new customer came in and was seated immediately and had his order taken right away. Another 20 minutes went by before our order was taken. We asked specifically about a particular dessert that we wanted later and he dismissively told us not to order that yet. He further told us that his partner would have to come over to talk to us about it. After our order was placed it was another 30 minutes until it arrived and which time we were allowed to order the dessert. He brought his partner out and it was clear that they weren’t happy with one another which became evident to all the patrons. She was asked to provide us with information about this dessert and she begrudgingly did so. He circled back moments later to chastise her in front of us for getting it wrong and the drama continued. It was embarrassing to all concerned. Meanwhile, after placing this order, she returned with the dessert and said that they were out of one of the items so she substituted something we didn’t want, slammed the plate on the table and turned her back. We decided not to challenge her given the terrible mood she and the owner were in. We didn’t want to get into it with them but she didn’t even check to see if one of us had an allergy to this item. Moments later the table behind us had reached their patience limit and started waving their credit card around so they could get out of there. This same person went over to the table and told them that the owner didn’t like it when she took his table! Dreadful and just rude. We waited another 20 minutes to receive our check. It was a terrible experience, extremely unprofessional and a disappointment to have brought my out of town guest to this establishment that I had heard about by word of mouth, with the promise of a delightful experience. I will not return, which is too bad, because the food was excellent. If you want to give them a chance, order out. My advice is to hire professional wait staff and to leave your personal drama outside the establishment.

My husband and I love trying new places. We took a day trip to Fredrick and stumbled across this place. We went in to have a drink and appetizers and asked about the hotel rooms. We ordered an appetizer , that was over fried and greasy. Our waitress told us she’d take it off our bill. Then the “manager” came over and told us it had “filet malign “ in it. She was so indignant ! We told her we weren’t happy with it. We also asked our waitress about the rooms upstairs – The same lady who handled our food complaint also came to answer our questions , was very curt – She Told us we could “Google it! “

Food was amazing! The mussels were perfection (see they photo) as were they other dishes our group had. The food was really fresh, which the co-owner was sure to tell us when he came to talk to our table. Perfectly sized portions didn’t leave us needing more and were in line with the prices.
