I’d love to say my 1st time visiting this establishment was pleasant but that’s not the case. Our lunch experience took 2 hours and only 1 waitress working the entire place. Waited nearly an hour for food after the order was placed and I got served bland watery tacos. I couldn’t believe this was what I’m being served. Taco Bell tacos are better. Lol. Seriously, hire kitchen and waitress staff. I’ll not go back.

Don’t go on Saturdays!!!! I’ve been going to this restaurant for a few years and it has steadily maintained, in my opinion, the most delicious Tex-Mex place in southwest VA! It is the best place for local mixed drinks and ice cold beer! At one point, I rated this place with 5 stars! The food used to be amazing! As of late, there is clear issue between wait staff and the cooks or maybe they’re understaffed on weekends. This evening was the second time in two consecutive trips within 6 or weeks or so that food orders were cold, incorrect and had to wait some time before missing items were brought to our table separately that was ordered at the same time as everything else. Our food got cold by the time we received our remaining items to eat with our meal. Again, this is the second bad experience in a matter of weeks. I’ve eaten here with no issues whatsoever for years. The waitress wrote everything we asked for on our ticket and provided great service but we voiced our issues. When we told our waitress our issues, she was easily aggravated, abruptly walked off and the manager came by a short time later. The excuse this time was, “We have a large party outside.” Last time a similar excuse was used, “We’re really busy.” No one cares about a large party outside or you being busy because you charge everyone the same price. I offered patience and understanding during our last bad experience but two in a row isn’t an excuse. We pay the same money for the same experience as everyone else. Normally, when wait staff are easily upset it’s because of being short staffed. Clearly, they are understaffed on the weekends. If El Dorado gets back to what it was, you will NEVER BEAT IT!!! For now, we will give this place a break and hopefully it will return to its former glory. I will forever be a fan of El Dorado. I’m not downing this establishment, it’s a great place to eat and drink but not as good as it once was. No where near it.

This was a favorite spot of mine to eat. After today I change my mind. Been here for an hour and still don’t have anything to eat. If I discover they have more and better help, I’ll reconsider my review. Don’t recommend this place currently but they can redeem themselves.

OMG!! This is a wonderful restaurant. Amazing atmosphere. Terrific service. Great prices. And, food is as good as, if not better than, La Caretta. Wish they had more restaurants, especially in Gate City, Kingsport, Bristol, & Johnson City. Will eat there again Highly recommended.

The pineapple bowl was very flavorful. Fast service and accurate. I got there thirty minutes before closing and food and service was spot on. Definitely will visit this restaurant again. The inside looked very cool, reminds me of Mexican restaurants around the Mexico California border. They even have outdoor covered seating.

Food was so so in flavor and warmth. Used to getting fajitas steaming and sizzling. These were barely warm. Chile relleno and tamales bland. The street style Mexican tacos were paltry in amount and flavor. But worst part was the waiter. Service was absolutely terrible. Meal came out in pieces. Would not go again. Clearly benefits from being one of the only acts restaurant wise in town. Its a solid meh for me.

First, I ordered Pinto Grigio wine, which they advertised they had, but was told it was the most popular and they were out of it. So, I ordered Chardonnay, then was told that was their second most popular, BUT, they were also out of that….so, I’m thinking….then why don’t you order more of both!!!! Geez….And, I’ll have to say the food was mediocre at best. I would not recommend this place, but, will also have to say, the food choices in Wise is very limited. We went to stay at the Inn at Wise, which we enjoyed, but I’d suggest maybe go to Norton or Big Stone Gap for food.

First time here. Food looked fresh. Sat outside and they even had a heater out there for our comfort. It is shaded so u won’t get fried by the sun if u want to be out there either. I also had a Long Island ice tea. And I’d totally order that and the salad I got again. This salad was one that you would crave! It’s a must try
