Food – pre-frozen food was marginal. Kens sauce packets. Fries were grainy. Salad was unappealing with chunks of tomato and cucumber. Lettuce was crispy and chicken was hot.

I don’t ever write a review but other night I got a vegetable plate and I have eaten there many times and this has happened more than one. I got cabbage. It was too much red pepper in it to the point you couldn’t eat it. I got pinto beans. That was the day before I got red potatoes boiled and those were the day before. The quality of the food has been going downhill for the last 2 years. I paid $14 for a vegetable plate. I ended up throwing it away….. I got cucumber salad and it was sour. Cucumbers are rubbery. The tomatoes had sour. I do not have a problem paying the price if the food is up to par. But like I said before the food was not up to par. I just wish that the owner wouldn’t cut so many corners and bring back the quality when it first open

I had the baked BBQ chicken special and my husband had the seafood platter. Sides were all good. Mashed potatoes were homemade and collards were fresh. Chicken was dry. The hush puppies were delicious. Name is Old South and the menu is too broad to be good at everything. Focus on southern style food.

I struggled to award two stars but, the service was good. The food was a 1 for sure. I’m not even sure that my hamburger was actual beef. The chicken tasted like leftovers that sat in the fridge a little too long. The fly situation was nearly unbearable, which begs a question of cleanliness. On the bright side you might be challenging your immune system here giving it a boost.

Old South is a good name for this place. Old country style food your grandmother might make for you. Comforting, delicious, and extremely affordable (the giant cup of navy beans and ham was $3). Everything needed some salt, but that’s to be expected, as the clientele is mostly elderly (at least when I was there). This isn’t a problem though, salt shakers exist, and the flavors were phenomenal. Reminded me of many good meals in days of yore.

The staff were so nice and upfront about being short-staffed; my friends and I didn’t even mind. Good, classic southern fried steaks and chicken and bbq. Not a place for gluten-intolerance, and the only dishes vegetarians can get are the salads and a couple appetizers.

My son and I had dinner on 3/3/22. I ordered grill fish, shrimp, collard greens and cabbage. When I ate the shrimp and looked at the bottom of the bowl, I noticed a opened packet of sugar. Clearly the dish was not clean. I asked to speak with the manager and he never came to the table. I walked to the front of the restaurant to speak to him and his response was I should have seen the sugar packet in the bowl. I reminded him that it’s not the customer responsibility to serve the customer (me) clean dishes. I also reminded him that we are in a Global Pandemic and cleanliness is more important than ever. I simple apology will have suffice. Yet, the manager did not take responsibility nor apologizes. He threatened to call the police on me. Legal actions to follow.

I have ordered the chicken and shrimp Alfredo to go and it us always dry. This time I asked for extra sauce, but as you can see it is STILL dry. The Alfredo part of the dish is the sauce otherwise its just noddles. They can but will not do better. Glad I keep a bottle of Alfredo in my cabinet.
