I used to eat here a lot when it was located in Jefferson. I miss the atmosphere and amazing food they used to have. Since they moved to Fort Atkinson I have been there just a few times and that will probably be it for me. The first time I went there they offered me a discount to leave a review, I assume they did this to wash all the bad reviews out and strike a 3 star rating that’s hardly reasonable. I spend good money to eat out with my lady and i must say this about Capn’s, it’s not even close to what it used to be. I read a review that said he would take a burger over there prime rib…. really and that’s a 5 star rating!!! There service was rude, unprofessional, uneducated about what they offer and pricing, the food is way overpriced and misses the mark on almost all fronts. I went in for a steaks for my woman’s birthday the last time we stopped. I seen the prices for steak, then realized this “steak house” didn’t even offer a porterhouse even though there was a picture of one on the menu, and the waitress couldn’t answer simple questions. She asked us if we were ready to order before we had even looked at the menus… then didn’t show up again for 15 minutes with my beer and her soda. When she got back I asked for a bill from the beer ordered that she had just brought. I told her we are not eating here so I’ll just pay for our drinks and then we will be dinning somewhere else. I don’t know about you guys out there but I expect quality service and quality food for a higher price. It seems they offer poor service, and mediocre food for a high price. I’m sorry but this place is a fail…

My wife and I went during happy hour, bartender was too busy talking with idle staff to worry about serving the 4 or 5 of us at the bar. We had pizza, it was very good. The beer selection is good. Every time we go, the service is bad, it’s frustrating because the food is usually pretty good.

Coyt has been the best bartender and host. He introduced me to the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale with one of the best Bloody Mary’s I’ve had in a while. I’m here to watch the Big Ten tournament games and it’s a great place to watch the games! I didn’t eat here today, but the plates that I’ve seen go by look great!

I recently visited Capn’s Roadhouse and the experience was unforgettable to say the least! The entrance lead into the bar area, but looked more like a war zone.

Like others have said, the food isn’t bad but the service is horrible. Thought we would give them another try and obviously things haven’t improved. We had 1pm reservations. Our order was taken around 1:30pm. We received our food around 2:45pm. A warning about the delay came approximately an hour into the wait. By that time you’re so hungry and angry the event is ruined. Can’t and wouldn’t recommend!

Ate here once. I ordered a chicken sandwich and they brought it out on moldy bread. Not like a tiny spot that wasn’t noticeable if you weren’t paying attention, the entire side of the bun was mold. So I politely showed the waitress the situation and the only thing they offered was “sorry I will remove that item from your bill”. Was not even offered a replacement meal. Go in hungry, leave hungry. Horrible experience, will NEVER go back.

Tonight we stopped for supper and decided on the chicken tenders basket and a haystack of onions. The tenders were so tough they were like eating shoe leather and the haystack was a blob of onion with a few pieces of Hay sticking out. Too bad I can’t post the photo I took here. They had just one dipping sauce but the waitress did bring some honey mustard at the point we were almost finished. She indicated one of the cooks was grumpy. We used to rate Captains a point above Culvers and Fat Boys, but you fell to a point below tonight.

Made the trip from Watertown to go to Capns. We were there a few years ago when Randy was alive and it was great. Steaks are priced out of this world. Looking at the Friday fish… no prices on the menu so I asked the waitress about the options and prices. She didn’t have a clue, guessed the prices and stood there for a second, and then asked if I wanted her to go find out. Really….duh. Settled on the fish. 3 small pcs of over cooked tough fish, 2 tablespoons of coleslaw, batter dipt fries and something in a cup that should have been tartar sauce but only resembled it by the color. All this for $12.95! The wife’s liver n onions was soggy like meatloaf. Other employees walking about in dirty clothes….yes your khakis were all dark dirty by your left rear pocket and the yellow stuff showed well what you sat on. Extremely overpriced AND overrated! We will not go back ever. Dear owner, have you ever watched “undercover boss”? Take a lesson, your place really sucks.

I only liked the look of it actually. The service was so so ,it was our first time there and we had wanted to try it for a while. Monday special is all you can eat wings. well it doesn’t say per person anywhere ….. we just wanted to try a few of the flavors…the buffalo aren’t hot even the slightest. when we asked for a different flavor we were told we would be charged ,I stated it doesnt say per person and that’s not right.he didnt ask again if I wanted them or not. … the server then brought them out and charged us for them……the linguine wasn’t that good either …so needless to say I wont be recommending them to my friends. might be a good place for a guys night out …but thats about it.

Stopped in there on a Sunday afternoon while passing through and should have taken the empty parking lot as a sign and went elsewhere to begin with. We sat down and asked our waitress the beers on tap which she had no clue about any of them so we listened to the bartender shout them out to us. We then proceeded to order our meals and the waitress was also unable to answer very simple questions about menu items to the point where she was stuttering from nervousness or not having the knowledge of the menu… I’m not sure. I ordered a French onion soup and my boyfriend ordered the wings for an appetizer before the meal. The soup was luke warm at best with barely melted cheese and the wings were so over cooked it was all breading and dried up meat on the inside. Meals came out and the burger wasn’t good at all and the beer battered fries were also over cooked with crispy outside and nothing but over cooked potato inside. My sweet potato fries were mushy. I work in the service industry so I’m not just being a complainer the experience was just that bad. It was what is was and we just realized it wasn’t a place we would ever eat again. The cherry on top that is the reason I am even writing this review is because after spending $55 + on a terrible meal I asked the waitress if they had TO GO cups and she enthusiastically said yes. I then asked if I could get some water to go and she starting stuttering again and said uhh umm well I’ll go see if we have any left. I already found this weird seeing as she just said yes to having them. She comes back and says I’m sorry we don’t have any water to go cups. What a joke. I can spend a decent amount of money for a crap meal and service and can’t even get a $0.10 cup to have WATER to go. What a joke. I would recommend spending your money elsewhere.
