yesterday I ordered food from them – it was among the worst I have eaten. Andhra Curry could have been renamed as Salt curry (not kidding, all you could taste was salt). Veg Korma was burnt a bit but okay. Biryani was okay not great. And instead of plain dosa, they substituted with plain uthappam (no onion nothing, just pancake style) which was at least 1 inch thick (not exaggerating at all) so tasted like raw dough

I have visited the restaurant multiple times and had a decent experience. But today was no such day. I ha the dinner buffet. There was hardly any variety of food and our table wasn’t served any naan even though the waiter told us that he was going to get some. The worst part was my one year old infant was charged with a kids buffet in the bill. I think that is atrocious. All my baby had was water and two or three pieces of dosa from my plate. I think it’s high time these guys learn a lesson or two in how to treat your customers.

I read all the bad reviews (because that’s what I do with every place I visit) and can honestly say I can’t see what they are complaining about. for a $11.35 Indian Buffet this place is great.

This is the worst Indian restaurant I have been to…The vegetarian dishes were not cooked well and the gravy was so watery we could pick the vegetables. We had visited with our friends on a weekday and were charged weekend rate because they said it was a special buffet that day (should have informed us before)…and the service was also very mediocre. On top of everything they charged us 15% gratuity (all for helping ourselves….just met the restaurant guy when he came with the bill and for paying). Everybody had an upset stomach as well. Will surely avoid this place in future and I do not recommend this place to anybody. There are much better place here which are not as expensive and good to the stomach…

Vishnu Vilas and the awesome Weekday Lunch/plate meals is fantastic and really home made taste. Hot food, with great service. The dal and the Majjiga pulusu was 10/10. His yogurt is 100% desi and the service of ghee on the white rice is top notch. Kalyan and Bhavani has pulled it off big time and the price is less than $5/head. I missed the chapati for the curry. The veggie palav was superb.

First Time, I had Dinner Buffet here. It was really very good. All item(Medu Vadai, Variety of Pakkoda, Chicken Gravy, Mutton Gravy, Palak Panneer, Alu Gravy, Dosai with Variety of Chutney and Podi, Tiffen Sambar, Rasam, etc) are up to the expectation. I think, one of best restaurant for South Indian Buffet in Chicago.

I went to Vishnu Vilas with a bit of hesitation — not a popular hotel chain, not even a familiar name. But my experience proved it was unfounded.
