I loved coming here because it’s the perfect place to unwind in nature. They host private events for anyone who’s having a wedding or a party. Our server is was friendly and attentive. We sipped beverages and ate filets. The kids could play in the wilderness while the adults had a nice relaxing evening meal.

I wish I could give Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro more than 5 stars. This far exceeded my expectations from the starters, to the main meal, and desert. This is easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had. And with a friendly, knowledgeable server as well. Don’t miss an opportunity to dine here!

We ended up here on a fluke due to another place being booked up and boy am I glad we did. It was our last night in Townsend and this dinner experience was the cherry on top of our trip. We came with our 2 kids (5.5 and 2.5) and wasn’t sure how “kid” friendly it was, but our waitress was awesome with them and they LOVED the mac n cheese.

Shelby, the bartender, has to be one of the hardest working people I’ve ever seen, and she did it all with a smile on her face! I’m not sure how she manages to run around the gigantic bar but she gets it done. She was attentive and provided excellent service. The food was good but Shelby is what made my experience special! I liked the ambiance of the restaurant and the surrounding grounds were nice as well. I also saw a server checking drink glasses to make sure they were clean and spot free which I greatly appreciate!

I went here for a 50th anniversary celebration and It was such a cool feel and decorated beautifully. It took a bit for the food to come out, but I would have waited 2 hours for that food because it was delicious. The filet melted in my mouth, and the burger was so good with a bit of jam to balance out the salt. I love this place and would definitely come for an anniversary or birthday again.

Very disappointed, after being highly recommended. We were seated promptly when we arrived for a 5:15 PM reservation. They took our drink order almost immediately, and then things started to go downhill. The cornbread had a good flavor, but was dry. My wife ordered the lobster bisque soup, and it only had two small slivers of lobster in the entire bowl. I ordered the charred Cesar salad, it was decent, but nothing special. My wife and I both ordered the pork chop for our main entrée and it was undercooked, and it was so spicy, it was barely edible, and that was even with getting the tomato/jalapeño jam on the side. My iced tea sat unfilled on the table for over 20 minutes, while I was waiting on a refill. I decided to not order dessert, but my wife ordered the blueberry lemon cheesecake. The flavor was off and almost tasted as if it had spoiled. It ended up being a very disappointing anniversary dinner for my wife and I, after we have very high hopes when we booked the reservation. There’s other fine dining restaurants in the area that are worth the money, as opposed to $160 we spent for this meal.

Drove from Cleveland OHIO to stay in the Smokies and this was our second stop after our cabin. I read great things about this place online and it did not disappoint. The ambience, the absolute beauty of the grounds around it even in February was stunning. Our waitress was wonderful and asked about food allergies, and was extremely professional. I only wish I could remember her name but she had short blond hair. We got the cheeseboard with fig jam, which was playful and delicious. The coffee in a French press delivered to your table was outstanding. My husband had a venison and asparagus dinner, and I had the trout with shrimp over grits. Both meals were amazing so much that we were talking about them the next morning at breakfast! the fact that you could go outside and sit by the fire in February and they had the materials there to make actual s’more’s was endearing and charming. We will come back to this place when we are back here. In the meantime, we recommend this place to anybody who is heading this way. Six stars out of five.!

First time visiting and it was a great success. Jon our server was extremely helpful and welcoming. True hospitality. Everything from appetizers to dessert was amazing. Unlike most upper scale restaurants, here the portion sizes fit the bill. They could have easily doubled the portions and the prices like most places do, but here we left full but not uncomfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the bill as well when we hadn’t really been paying attention.

We had reservations for the pet friendly patio this past Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend. They were busy, but we were attended to quickly. We had the most enjoyable time. Our food was scrumptious as usual. Thank you for another great time at your bistro.
