We love coming here for dinner! Shokudou always has a wide range of fish for their nigiri and sashimi, and I’m always excited to try different kinds of fish here. As for appetizers and other dishes, we’ve tried the agedashi tofu, karaage, grilled fish, tonkatsu, and grilled squid, and they were all very solid! I do think that the nigiri/sashimi options are more worth it than the -don dishes they offer.

Arrived 8pm on a Saturday. No wait (surprisingly, half the tables were unseated). Very roomy venue (about 7 tables for 2, 5 tables for 4 spaced well apart and can be combined for larger parties). Ordered Deluxe Sashimi Sampler which came with a side of rice and miso. Good cuts of fish (hamachi, tuna, amberjack, and 3 types of salmon; 15 pieces total) on a bed of shiso leaf and daikon. Servers were very attentive. Overall a nice, quiet dinner in lovely Bernal Heights.

Love this restaurant on Cortland. Everything on the menu is delicious. Recommend the uni don, tofu appetizer, house saki, mushroom wrapped in bacon skewers. Cute date night spot and reasonable pricing for what you get especially in SF.

EXCELLENT hamachi kama and small plates— agedashi tofu was delicious as was the salad. great place for a family meal that’s a little more special. my toddler’s favorite thing is the gomae- cold spinach salad. the kama is incredible! and the servers are attentive and kind.
