We went here a few months to celebrate our friends engagement. The food, service and atmosphere was incredible. Then two weeks ago I visited with my husband and we were slightly disappointed. The waitress was amazing. However, the food and drink service was slow and it wasn’t even busy. The food was not as tasteful and good as previous. The drinks are very expensive. For $25 dollar glasses of wine I expect a decent pour.

I really enjoyed my experience at Esty Street. The ambiance was superb. The service was above expectations. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Management was very personable and welcoming. Food was perfectly prepared. Rack of Lamb was the most tender lamb I have ever had. The Creme Brulee Cheesecake with the Strawberry Balsamic Compote was life changing. Definitely worth checking this place out for a fine dining experience.

Atmosphere is great and you would expect to get a high end experience, but the food was nearly inedible, the fois gras was awful (and that’s saying something), the shed rib eye was tough and sinewy and the crab cake was so salty that it was inedible. The service was fine, but I didn’t appreciate being charged $15 for water and then being charged 4% for using a debit card.

As a guest to an old friend’s birthday celebration, the rack of lamb might have been the absolute best and juiciest lamb I’ve ever tasted! The wait staff were insanely knowledgeable, and the presentation of the food was impeccable!

There were so many things wrong with this place I don’t even know where to start. The chef spent more time walking back and forth in the front of the restaurant doing god knows what which would explain why the food took forever to come out. Steak was ordered medium well and came out rare. Ricotta gnocchi came out without ricotta. Sent it back to take it to go, and it still has no ricotta. Drinks and food were severely overpriced (oysters tasted borderline rotten) Almost $500 later and I have no idea where the money went. Worst food in the area hands down.

Food was terrible. Had their sushi special, some of the items tasted way off, tasted bad. Fois gra was terrible. Steak tartar tasted like anchovies. If you claim to be upscale, have good food at least. That day we wished we went to a modest place but had good food. Disappointed

I always evaluate a place based upon value as set by overall quality and price. Quality is driven by service, food, environment, etc as compared to what that final bill looks like. The higher the price, the higher the bar. Esty matches up on ambience and table side service. While there are some sparks of brilliance and genuine creativity on the menu, the execution was spotty. The shredded brussel sprout & kale salad served lukewarm was really interesting and I enjoyed it. The spicy tuna tartar was promising with how the avocado was incorporated and presented but the spice was missed. It would have really helped to bring it all to life. Sadly the filet with quinoa cake was a bust. The quinoa cake texture was dynamite I really was hopeful when I cut into it but the taste was just blah. And the filet, oh my, was an incredible cut of prime meat that lacked a proper seer and crust and was absolutely raw, not even rare, thru 70% of the piece though ordered medium rare. A simple thermometer check would have avoided this. And, I would expect an extreme high temp oven would be used at a top rated restaurant like Esty, but it appears not. Yes, I could have sent it back. However, a) this should be right the 1st time and b) the group had already been seated for 2.5 hours at this point and further delay was inappropriate. The kitchen clearly has some prep issues. The chef needs to tweak their recipes in just a few spots but the kitchen needs focus on basics. At about $175 per person with drinks and gratuity the experience didn’t line up for us. Maybe it was just a bad weeknight? Hopefully, the kinks can be ironed out to get the value aligned.
