Mother Wolf Menu – Los Angeles, CA

Type : Italian restaurant

Location : Los Angeles, CA

Evan Funke’s newest venture MOTHER WOLF finds its home inside the historic Citizen News building in Hollywood.
Chef Evan Funke is a steward of Italian cooking traditions and culture. His latest venture, Mother Wolf, pays tribute to Rome’s mythological origin story of Remus, Romulus and the Lupa Capitolina. With Rome as the singular inspiration for Mother Wolf, Funke’s rich and soulful cooking is a mosaic of the ancient, pastoral and urban culinary heritage of la cucina Romana. The menu echos themes of shepherds, popes, farmers and artisans with wafer-thin wood fired pizzas, hyper-seasonal antipasti and the exceptional pastas for which Funke is renowned.

Upscale choice with a genteel vibe serving thin pizzas, handmade pasta & other Italian staples. Based on 357 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.2 stars. Price

Great ambiance, the location is very retro but it a good way. There’s valet up front so no need to worry about parking. The drinks were very old school, would definitely recommend going with wine instead. The pastas were great. The salad and pizza was just okay. All plates are served family style so definitely shareable.

Food: Was the food great? Yes. The prawns and pasta were fantastic. Was the food so good that you must absolutely try this place and die to get a reservation? Not really. Don’t get me wrong, the food is really good, but definitely overhyped.

What’s dat ya brewing?
Overpriced and overrated. However, the stuffed squash blossoms were the only reason for 1 star. The italian soda gives it an additional star, and our waiter was the reason for number 3. When we pulled up, the valet looked in my car and walked to the car behind me and serviced them instead. I guess we didn’t look like their typically customers. We also waited 20 minutes for reservations. I booked 7 days in advance. The pastas were all just OK, and the pizza was tasteless. The shrimps were ok and were the texture of rubber (overcooked). Nothing stood out as amazing but the high-end price tag. To save the pizza, we attempted to add more sauce, which cost us $7 and was thrown away by the bussier that was rushing us out of our seats. They also made us order everything at once, which was also a horrible experience because everything came out before we could get halfway through the first bite. So, we got the pleasure of not only eating a tastess meal but a cold meal.

Freshly made pasta, incredible Roman style pizza, fantastic service and stellar drinks. This restaurant is worth the hype. One of the best Italian meals we’ve had in Los Angeles.

Decor, beautiful. Upscale classic Italian interior, think rich Italian grandmother’s living room/dinning room. As nice and classy and expensive u can think of. It’s gorgeous and comforting. Welcomes you to enjoy yourself.

First time there tonight and it was FANTASTIC! Derek was our server and was attentive, had great knowledge of the menu and overall had a kind calmness to him that you don’t get now a days dining out. He recommended some great items like the S.P.Q.R cocktail which was delicious. The decor gave warmness to the restaurant and was lovely. The prawns were to die for and dipping the pizza crust in that sauce was the cherry on top. Will definitely be back overall an amazing experience.

Very beautiful place inside. The food is really good but not the best. The squash blossoms are a must! Better then anywhere else I’ve tried them. The prawns are very yummy too. The pastas are ok nothing to rave about. So many yummy Italian restaurants these days that I’d really have to blown away by a pasta. The Italian Sweet Cream dessert was straight up nasty. One of the worst desserts I’ve ever had and it’s so hard to mess up dessert. The service here is great. Definitely a place to check out. A lot of celebrities have their post award and celebration dinners here. For example, Beyoncé took her post Grammy photos here.

Went here before a show at the Greek. MW lived up to the hype. There was a line to get in when they opened at 5:30. The hostess was very accommodating- we had an unexpected 3rd person in our party and they were able to make it work. Lots of staff here- a true team effort. Our Server was Julia, she was just lovely, answered our menu questions very well. Great suggestions and loved hearing about her favorite items.

You need to experience Mother Wolf!!!! This is how I wish every dining experience could be. What a great menu. Perfectly simple yet still offering a wonderful selection of food. The ingredients are freshly picked from the farmers market, which makes a huge difference in the freshness and quality of flavor. The Italian techniques and ingredients used in their pizza makes for the best dough and flavor you will have outside of Italy itself. And of course the atmosphere and the staff. From the warm demeanor of the GM Josh, a great suggestion from Sean the Somm for a wine to compliment the Oxtail Ragu, to the AMAZING and attentive server Julia, as well as the other runners like Charles, and waitstaff such as Adolfo who help out in every way. This is the most perfect place to take a date for a special occasion or when you have guests in town and want to wow them with flavor. I highly recommend it and will definitely be bringing back friends to experience the cuisine and the ambiance. Thank you Mother Wolf, Chéf Evan, and the entire crew. You guys are doing wonderful work and delivering quality all around.
