The concept of Aunt Maude’s was created on a Sunday morning in 1975 over a few Bloody Mary’s. Although Aunt Maude the person is mythical, we cherish the ideals of her with our casual, personal style, superb service, and excellent cuisine. Carrying on those ideals are what we are passionate about.
Genteel setting for locally sourced, modern American cuisine paired with wines from a sizable list. Based on 802 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.7 stars. Price $$$

7/26/23 Dinner. My wife had the Simply Grilled Salmon (5) and loved it. She had the Soup of the Day – Corn Chowder (4), and I had a house salad (4). I had the Blackened Chicken and Angel Hair Pasta (5). It was delicious and wonderfully hot (temperature), what can I say. We shared the Chocolate Mousse (4.5, just a bit sweet for our taste, but it had a rich, delicious cocoa flavor). We also shared the Creme Broulee (5, so good! Perfectly hard top with a not too sweet body underneath). Really enjoyed this meal. Well worth the cost.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a charming restaurant called “Gourmet Haven,” and the experience left me thoroughly impressed. From the moment I stepped inside, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for a memorable evening.

Came here for a work lunch and the food was fantastic. The atmosphere was excellent and the staff members were very courteous. I had the Teriyaki Salmon and Creme Brulee and they were both very good. Highly recommend for a fancy dinner night if you are in the area!

Wonderful meal of salmon and asparagus! Handicapped accessible! Staff went above and beyond with double checking handicapped parking to make sure there was no meter for the parking. Great waitress!! Would highly recommend.

It was a bad night. I’ve never felt the food was great but thought it was good. Unfortunately, I made a reservation but when we got there the table we asked for got snatched away before we could take it. Was told well, the outside tables are first come first serve. Then ordered my meal as gluten free. She even made a big deal about it…then brought me a gluten pasta. Had my boyfriend not asked to make sure, I would have assumed it was GF and just ate it. He ate his meal while I waited another 25 min to get mine. They did take it off my bill which was very nice. He had the salmon and said it was wonderful however sticky rice was plain and bland. It was just not a good night for them that night… maybe next time!!

Fantastic find! Great local and inventive ingredients. The tri-tip was melt in your mouth with the BEST flavor. Service was incredibly fast even though they were very busy on a Thursday evening. So glad we found them!!!

This is an update to our visit from 2 months ago. We had a wonderful dinner. The service was super friendly and sarah was very knowledgeable about all the dishes. The goat cheese terrine appetizer was amazing. And the chicken spinach fetteccini was the best. We really love the artwork and lighting in there too. Dim enough to be romantic but light enough to see your table.

Phenomenal food, service and atmosphere. Best restaurant in Ames by a long shot. Steve runs a great kitchen and produces delicious food at a very reasonable price. The bar area is very welcoming and the drinks are perfection.
